I went to Japan as an exchange student in the early 90's. My host brothers and I played Street Fighter II and Super Bomberman on the Super Famicom and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. But what really hit me was a few years later I got a phone call from a Japanese guy that asked for me in broken English and after a few minutes an American man got on the phone and explained he had an exchange student and lived in a suburb 45 minutes from me. It was my younger host brother. I drove over there to see him and spent the day hanging out. Mind blown.

日本は1920年と1922年にシベリアにいたポーランド孤児765人を救いました。ありがとう日本。 I am Polish . Do you know this story? In 1920 and 1922, Japan rescued 765 Polish orphans in Siberia. Poland asked Japan to rescue a Polish orphan in Siberia. Japan promised to rescue immediately. The smallest orphaned child was 2 years old. The child was crying near the dead mother. The Japanese rescued the orphan immediately. The child told the dead mother "Goodbye Mom". Japan rescued a total of 765 Polish orphans.Japan sent orphans to Japan for treatment.Orphans ate delicious and warm meals every day. All Polish orphans have recovered. Almost all Japanese donated money to save orphans. On the day of return, all 765 Polish orphans returned to Poland safely. In 2018, an elementary school commemorating this was completed in Warsaw. Thank you Japan. God bless Japan.

@FredWallace18

@@-KillaWatt- I went with four non-speakers (including me) and one fluent speaker. Having someone fluent was great, but you could definitely do without. Just figure things out ahead of time so you don't panic trying to find your train, air bnb, stop, etc. And learn at least a few phrases like "thank you" and "excuse me"; they're constantly helpful, and politeness is appreciated.

@@FredWallace18 thanks. The language barrier always held me back from visiting such a place. I had an opportunity a few years back to go and some friends are planning a trip next year and I was considering to go but I hate being the dumb tourist type walking around bugging everyone for help. Lol. I looked around after watching this video and from what I gather it's easy to get by there. Many speak English in the first place. I guess it was my own ignorance holding me back. Cheers.

@@-KillaWatt- Having been there myself as not Japanese speaker, you can get by. BUT be patient and really teach yourself that it's not standard for them to speak proper english. A lot might know some english and might be willing to help, but may feel to insecure about it to actually show it to you. And just try to learn a few words/phrases....they will go a long way. But all in all, we managed to survive every time without much Japanese :) (Working on learning it now...)

I had the chance to study abroad in Japan when I was in college, and as a game collector myself, I can only describe my experiences in Akihabara and game stores like Super Potato as sensory overload. As shown in the video, the sheer amount of merchandise for sale in these shops is just overwhelming and it's so easy to burn through all your spending money for a trip like this.

It looks like my dream vacation since I've always wanted and even planned to go to Japan a few years ago but my car broke down and all the money I saved I had to put into buying a new car...and that car broke. ONE DAY I will make it to Japan but until then I will watch this video. I appreciate you sharing this experience and would love to see you traveling back to Japan or other places even in the US to do game hunts. This seems like a very special trip with great company and good friends. I don't know Kinsey but you can just tell she is an absolutely positive person to be around and knows how to enjoy life and have fun. Your channel is amidst my favorite on KZfaq and seems to be unique unlike many others.
