On the morning of Aug 31st, 1985, I was 15 years old and that morning my older stepbrother who was going to the concert with 3 friends told me one of them backed out and asked if I wanted to buy his ticket. I was a *huge* Metallica fan, but I knew I couldn't miss my mom's annual birthday brunch with the family, so I declined. My mother somehow found out, bought the ticket for me and told me to have a good time. Up until then I'd only seen Eddie Money and The Little River Band in concert, so this concert just blew my freaking mind. - Thanks mom!

I was at this Day on the Green. Victory, Yngwie Malsteen, Metallica, Y&T, Ratt and the Scorpions. We were there to see Metallica. After the show we drove down to Santa Cruz and partied on the beach. Crashed in the back of my buddy's truck only to be woken up by the park rangers telling us we couldn't camp there. Not sure where we slept, but the next day we ended up at a college frat BBQ on the beach. They were pretty cool considering we were all long hair metal heads.

I got to see them in April of ‘86 at The Spectrum in Philly. Went to see Oz, but left a dedicated Metallica fan for life. I remember when they came on and just took over. The velocity of their live performance was nothing I’ve ever seen before. I remember after they finished, I went to the merch stand and bought my first Metallica t-shirt. Don’t get me wrong, Oz was phenomenal, but Metallica absolutely stole the show. I remember that weekend I bought “Master of Puppets”, “Ride the Lightning”, “Kill ‘Em All” and if memory serves me correctly, the “Jump In the Fire” picture disc. A revelation for a young 12 year old.

Cliff was a unique bassist but if he had lived I’m sure Lars and James would’ve fired him! Cliff was a killer guitar player and song writer as well, which is why they would’ve fired him
@thecrossedtheroadfund4289Ай бұрын
In opinion, I believe Cliff wrote at least 80% of ride the lightning & master of puppets. Cliff passed in '86, And Justice For All released in '88. So there is also a possibility AJFA was Cliff's "left-overs". The reason why I believe this is because the Black Album is garbage (no early metallica sounds).
@midnight34716 күн бұрын
@@thecrossedtheroadfund4289cliff wrote what he was credited on. Get out of here with this fn nonsense. Metallica has always been James and Lars driving the ship. Cliff had alot more input than the bassists after him ans cliff taught James about harmonizing and other stuff but what you are saying is complete nonsense. The only thing on justice cliff wrote was the middle of to live is to die and the poem James reads on the same song and he's credited for those things. They loved cliff ecsp James they would never not give him credit where it's due. People like you with your made up bs fairy tale crap trying to spread hate towards the remaining members of Metallica by worshiping cliff and dissing on them every chance you get make me sick. They were just young and hungry then man. Most bands make their best shit early in their career. That just happened to be the time cliff was with the band. You're making connections where there are none. Justice and the black album are absolute classics. Load even has alot of good stuff it just isn't "thrash"...the last 3 studio albums have been awesome and they returned to form so to speak. Cliff would be so proud of what they've become.
