My parents divorced after 28 yrs of marriage. The sad part is my mother died of cancer just 3 yrs after. All that depression and stress got to her and killed her.

I was at the Buffalo show (Hallmark Stadium) two nights ago, and he stopped in the middle of Fade to Black to talk about suicide and how we all know someone who's been affected by it, or by those thoughts at least. I just figured it was within the context of the song, I hope he's ok. But it did sound like a positive message he was trying to convey.

Divorce can be a life shattering event, but you'll be a stronger man when you come out on the other side of it. Having a marriage fail doesn't make you a failure. You're a good man, so try to move on and have a good life. Your Metallica family will be always be be here for you. We pray for you always Papa Het.

Well said. But is it really a failure if they both seem to be on good terms and have made a decision that ultimately seems best for them as a family? It’s painful to get divorced after so many years together, but this ultimately sounds like a success if a divorce had to happen. I’m sure they tried to make it work knowing what big hearts Het and his wife have had for all these years, but I just don’t think his wife would want him to stay in a marriage that ultimately wasn’t making him happy. She loves him enough to make the sacrifice to let him go in an effort to help Het find his happiness and have a family that isn’t broken by a divorce. I hope their entire family will come above their new phase of life stronger for this divorce and will ultimately be uplifted by it.

they seem okay currently. there was a recent pic of all the hetfields together on Francescas instagram where she wished him a happy fathers day. they still respect each other but the love has faded I guess

@@_.lizziejohnson Didnt know she had an instagram. From what I've seen they say they both still get along, so that's good. I don't know what went on but I'm sure James and her want it to be kept private for now. They filed earlier in the year, and it's just now came to light. Hopefully they can reconcile later on, but that's up to them. All we can do is pray for them and be respectful

@@MyRealityIsProof For context, about a week ago some girl on TikTok, called “Serena Trueblood,” is wanting Metallica to be cancelled just because of some of the things they did in some photos/videos that are “shocking.” For example, Lars and James doing a Nazi salute in one photo, a clip of Jason Newsted marching while doing the Nazi salute, another photo of James with Kerry King (Kerry was wearing a confederate flag shirt) and she called him an “Aryan Brotherhood looking motherfucker.” That’s what happened last weekend.

Man I was so sad when I learned about James Hatfield from Metallica had filled a divorce after 25 years of marriage. To be honest James went through a lot of ups and downs ever since Jason's departure in 2001 and getting himself checked in to rehab shortly after during the film Some kind of monster making their new album with Bob Rock. I hope and I pray that he is in a better place now, but most importantly James still has his band mates Lars, Kirk, and Robert who are his family and still on the road selling out shows all across the world. James keep on rocking man🎸🎤

My divorce is going to be final soon. Very cordial. We get along better now. It’ll be ok. It’s been a long process, but we co-parent well. Kids are 20 and 17, so I credit both of us for allowing our kids to come first - always. 🤘🏼🖤

My parents were the same way, although that led to my mom not getting nearly what she deserved. It was my dad that filed, and he occasionally will talk shit about her to me, but I shut that shit down. They stay peaceful by simply having zero contact.

I can very much relate to this. I've been married for over 25 years and am too going through a divorce. I also have 3 kids and am trying to keep it cordial with my Ex, especially for my children. A long time battle with addiction played a role in it. James, (if you ever see this) I want you to know that I've always loved your music and greatly respect your well-earned success. Sometimes in relationships you go left they go right they have differences but again sometimes relationships can be fixed other times they cannot. But being with somebody for 25-30 years is tough it's going to be hard to date again

I'm happy that James has done this. People act like divorce is the end of the world; I've been through it and it is difficult, esp with children, but sometimes it can be a beginning, not an end. I want James to be happy, he's been through so much. Metallica has got me through a lot--I met James in '94, and he was awesome to me. Sometimes happiness is self destructive. I know this because my mom and died divorced after 28 yrs of marriage. My kussy if a dad (and I still love him. He's the only family I have and super close with). But just says my mom is abusive towards him, because she wants to control the relationship by restricting my dad from taking alcohol, and smoking cigarettes and taking in all this unhealthy stuff that harms his body. So all she want is my dad to live a healthy life, she'll scream and argue everytime he does something bad, instead of being supportive like my dad wants or hoped for. On the otherhand, my dad's argument is he is a man and man is not dictated by others. It's his body and his choice. They're both wrong and both right. He's now remarried and his new wife just let the man does what he wants and my dad is happier for it but still does stupid stuff as a result. I guess there is a price for freedom, and how things can be handled could be different but there's no changing it when people are hellbent on doing what they want to do. It's predestined. It's sad how things turn out. I imagine this is what James is going through. I wish him the best though.

@@FIRE-LOTUS I mean who would wanna be with a nagging wife. If your spouse is doing unhealthy stuff you gotta be supportive and patient not relentlessly rage out on them. Sucks sometimes women change after menopause and that youthful vibrant, sweet, supportive woman you married becomes unrecognizable not saying that’s always the case but I’ve heard many stories on that exact thing.

I hate that this is happening, because she seems like a good wife, sticking with him, all those years, and I can't imagine what she might have done, for him to do that, but it also makes me think that he did it, thinking that she deserves better than dealing with his addiction. I don't know, of course, but I just hope he has enough people to help him, when he struggles.

When you do a thing for long enough, you get pigeon-holed. You become the personification of that thing. When you're not actively doing that thing, you're not quite sure of what you're supposed to be doing, or how you're supposed to act. People who don't know much about that thing you do don't understand you, and may push you away or treat you like some kind of freak. When your thing is artistic in nature, the world you're in changes constantly. The people around you change. You change. None of those changes are, necessarily, for the better, but they happen. When what you do, partially, dictates who you are, it's very difficult to maintain any kind of interpersonal relationship, let alone, an intimate one. Good feels to the Hetfields.

@@jamesalanhetfield1375 One is particularly my favorite, I use to be an exotic dancer, & I did alot of gymnastics in my routine, I would start my set off with One, & I had some thrash metal headbangers to entertain, & I had a standing ovation after my performance, Even though it was a long song to dance to, But I had them all headbanging & I have to say that my tips are a good indication of how they loved it, I made over $200. Just on My Metallica Set, I had sooo much fun, I saw you at The Allentown Fairgrounds in 1991" I had to move out of the mosh pit, But I'll never forget seeing ya when ya had long hair, But your still very handsome, & I've been admiring you & your many accomplishments that you strove for since you were young, & I know you had a verrry rough experience growing up, & I can only imagine how lost & uncertain about everything, Cuz I grew up feeling lost & uncertain by being sick from when I was 6 months, By the time they diagnosed me that my thyroid stopped functioning, but after it had caused some delayed reaction in my brain, I was slow at learning, but I was pegged as being retarded, just cuz I went to a special education school, I was bullied 24/7, cuz even my siblings teased me, so I can relate to your being bullied, & Sooo sorry you went through all that, But it's something that I can connect to you by, When I grew older & stronger, I got interested in gymnastics & it helped build myself confidence & I love music, especially Heavy Thrash Metal, & Dancing was a huge aspect in gymnastics, so I learned how to do choreography & it was 2nd hand knowledge for when I started exotic, I'm 65 now, I still dance, but not on stage anymore, I do it to keep myself fit, But my friends tell me I don't look it, which makes me happy!!! 🙏 ❤
