Black Sabbath should have been inducted around 1995 (around the time Led Zep were inducted). Really late to induct them now. It's almost like an insult to them.

Lars does a lovely job here .... it mattered a lot to him, and though he's a bit nervous, to me, that is more endearing that he is not comfortable up there in a way. He says what he cares about and doesn't dumb himself down. He knows the history of NWOBHM and i'm glad he didn't edit himself for fear of what some people might label as pretentious, because it's not. Lars is not the asshole that so many people have labelled him as being.

Black Sabbath are the true godfathers of metal. They originated an entire sub genre of music. How many artists can say that? Not too fckng many. These creators and innovators, brilliant in their originality, were the first to translate horror films into musical form. With power and sludge, a one of a kind frontman and vocalist, and for the time incredibly unique lyrics and supreme musicality, and a sound totally and completely original, Sabbath catapulted music forward into a new era of sound. Personally speaking, when I was 13, decades and decades after the band had already disbanded, it was the discovery of their music, and Ozzy, that formed part of the bedrock foundation of my musical awakening. Similar to what Lars said, Without Sabbath, there would be no me as I am today. 🖤

So glad they made Sabbath's first four albums available for streaming. I can honestly say that's some of the best rock music i've ever heard from that period. Yes there's alot of 'heavy metal' influence there but it's just pure goddamn rock and roll, a little on the hard side but it's great stuff. I thought they were just about Iron Man and Paranoid but they made some really great albums. I'm late to the party but I agree with most in saying this was way past time.

Judas Priest should have inducted black sabbath in 1995 , Judas Priest is the 2nd most influential heavy metal band ever next to black sabbath , black sabbath was inducted 11 years late that is bullshit , the hall of fame gave led Zeppelin a fucking two hour ceremony in 1995 , black sabbath deserved better than this

joe Williams well your wrong on all of this! Metallica is much more well known than Judas Priest. Led Zeppelin is a top 5 band! But they were so late with this

Foxy the Silver Fox the Rock hall of fame is nothing more but a popularity contest yes Metallica is massively popular , metallica has a very strong commercial sound , black sabbath , Judas Priest , and iron maiden does not have that for example there is no way iron maidens rime of the ancient mariner is more commercial than enter sandman , but it is far more complex

I can clearly remember, mainly because it had the same effect that James speaks of. Of being at an amusement park at around 9 or 10 years old hanging at the arcade. which was mainly pinball machines at the time. an over the speakers from the jukebox in the place played " The Wizard". I think my ears, or at least the part of my brain that deals with music, had an orgasm. I was sold hook line and sinker. To this day, even though I play a lot of different styles of music on guitar.. I still break out into some Sabbath here and there. And most of my friends that play, will join.

He always is when he has no guitar hanging from his shoulders. The Gigs in early 90's when his hand was injured and a roadie played his parts and Het only had a Mic to hold on to are in a sweet way cringy. It's like guitars are his rpg shield granting him +1000 determination and charisma :D

Amogh Harish - Umm... they were pretty fucking famous with Dio, too. Heaven and Hell outsold all other Sabbath albums combined within a few months of its release. I heard every damn song from the record on the radio. Eventually, some other Sabbath records surpassed H&H in sales, but at the time, that record resurrected a band that was limping along for a couple of years and releasing some of its weakest material. Dio gave them a new life and it could be argued that Sabbath wouldn’t be what they are today without Dio’s contributions in his first stint with the band, which brought them to a much wider audience.

Yeah, I'm 43 now and I am a HUGE Metallica fan, have been since 1986, but that is when I discovered Ozzy also (Ultimate Sin and Master of Puppets changed me). Then, a year later, a friend gave me a mixed tape that had the "Speak of the Devil" album songs on it and I was like "What the fuck is this?" These aren't Ozzy songs." (I then had all of his albums up to the Tribute album) That's when. I discovered Black Sabbath. Changed my fucking life man. I drove home last weekend from seeing my kids and jammed to all from 1970 to 1978. It still isn't getting old.
