I was here. I was on Kirk's side of the stage when they rushed to stage from the back. I saw people knocking down the gates and getting pushed back by security. Luckily, no one died or got seriously hurt. i had a good seat. I got mixed in with the crowd during the show. I'm 49 now, i was 17 and getting rady to start my senior year @ Taft High School.

I was there, with some adult friends. I was a teen and lord it was just great! Completely amazed at the amount of people there ! And I was in the second roll up top when the riot started we had already gotten as close to the stage as we could then it just went bad quickly, it looked like a tidal wave of people and then floating waves of chairs, and security but it de escalated and the concert regained its place and kept going till the last song played ! It was a fully Amazing all day Event! Scorpions was my main reason for going but it was Awesome !!! My first ever concert and never been to one like that since ! I can say I was taken by my arm to safety because we were down among the crowd when things went kind of bad fast, but I was covered and dodged a few falling items, only got hit by a bottle then we moved on back up to where we sat. It was just energy so you couldn’t be still very long!! Mostly standing and singing for hours! It was a rush!!!! Loved It!!!

Was there right next to you, or very near... I was being squashed against the barricade directly in front of Kirk. I got sucked back off the wall and was tossed about amongst the three mosh pits and after the ✂️ of the bands power and all the chairs were passed up to the stage, I ended up on one of the remaining folding chairs with a blonde with a Van Halen necklace standing on the seat back with her tits smashed against my back for the Dokken, Scorpions and Van Halen sets good 👍 times. Yes there was blood.

@vernal69447 жыл бұрын
Enrique Viñuales Trillo Yea....I saw them 3 days later in the Kingdome. James was even more aggressive then this if you can believe it. I remember thinking he was pissed or something...Like an angry version of the James on the previous records. Before this they weren't as polished. After this they started going more mainstream. I think this was the sweet spot. I think this was Metallica's peak. At least for me. Especially the drums...

I remember seeing the boys at JFK Stadium in Philly on June 11, 1988. It was the last week of my freshmen year of high school. I do remember how insanely hot it was that day. This was my second time seeing them. My first time was in ‘86 opening for Ozzy. I was fortunate to see them with the late great Cliff Burton. They played “Harvester of Sorrow” at the show. Great times!

I saw this tour in Seattle at the old Kingdome and it was amazing. The only thing I didn't like was Metallica playing before Dokken. I get that Van Halen (headliner) and Scorpions deserved their spots, and that's undisputed. However, nobody convinced me that beautiful day or 35 years later that Dokken deserved to go on after Metallica. In fact, Don was off his game. The last 3 songs they'd played, Don hilariously tried throwing his mic stand up in the air and all 3 times couldn't catch it as it fell to the floor. Outside of George Lynch and his masterful guitar playing, Dokken didn't even deserve to be on that tour.

And now ladies and gents Dokken! LMAO. Whoever the hell put this 88 bill together pulverized all the girls in the crowd apparently there to see Dokken. Dokken then started getting booed for 30-40 mins after this set for not matching Metallica's volume/energy. Sad day for Dokken.

I was at this show. To answer your question, it was just a different time. Bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer etc got virtually zero airplay at the time. Radio didn’t give a sh!t about any of them with the exception of KNAC. 80s rock hair bands were still relatively popular. This was AJFA tour. Then the black album came out and they all jumped on the bandwagon. I was fortunate enough to see them play with Cliff at Day On The Green in Oakland in August of 85. Good times.
