Reading all the dumb shit on social media made my think of this song. “The empty can rattles the most” & “These times are sent to try men’s souls” Metallica is arguably the best lyrical metal band of all time.

This song... represents 8 months of torment and anger brought on by life, I'm 46 and have known this song since it came out, lyrics and all. Yesterday this song came on. I replayed it, then put it on repeat, for 10 hours. Now I hear myself in this song. It's the man I let myself become, now, after this song, I'm changing that. Quittin a shitty job next week, starting two new ones, and going to church and praying to God all day every day God bless any of you struggling mentally, you've got this, keep going, it's come around even better.

What makes this song is the majestic bass line, combined with the drums with sound almost filter-esque, Hetfield's lyrics that hit close to home and finished off with the guitar solo that isn't over complicated but sounds like a battle of two armies to see who comes out on top.

rediscovering the black album. My Kuya introduce me to this black labeled cassette back in 1993 and since then I started blasting our speakers to its limit. I still remember when my old man heard it and ask me to turn it down a bit and rewind the cassette on side A and sat and listened carefully on the lyrics. after a few tracks he said its ok to listen to this kind of music and he approved! one of my vivid memory of my Dad.
