Please review The Metallica trilogy The Unforgiven I, II, III also in order of course. And I like that you mentioned the drummer & lead guitar as exceptional. Don't you also think Hetfields vocals are the kind that need to sing this? A Garden Grove CA kid, he is. Oh and lead guitar Kirk Hammett is a mestiso. Mom is pinoy. Ask your wife if she knows that.

This song was what gave me hope for the Band's future, but then they failed epically with Load & re-Load. IMO, The Black album was their last. Everything Metalica did after that, sucks. But I'm an old Metallica 'elitist', new Metallica is sold out bullshit.
@andalf_der_graue
@andalf_der_graue 3 жыл бұрын
@@peterbelanger4094 sorry, but I disagree. They've grown musically imo. Load and Reload are great in my book. Very different, but still great. If you really were an elitist you wouldn't like anything after AJFA. The black album heavily went towards mainstream metal which is good because more people (non metalheads) would give it a chance. People keep saying they sold out. That shit started with MOP, believe it or not. They were actually implying Metallica sold out on MOP because there were acoustic and melodic parts in it. Lastly, St. Anger is a rough listen I'll give you that. Death Magnetic and Hardwired to self-destruct were excellent, especially the latter felt like a best of from all their styles over the years.

I grew up with many types of music from my older siblings, so I have always been eclectic in my musical tastes, but I don't like everything I hear. When it comes to a new band/artist, I try to keep to a simple enough system, don't give up if you don't like the first song you hear. I try to listen to 3 songs before I make up my mind, if I find the first song a bit off. I cannot say that I have always used this rule, but most of the time, and while I do not like every song I hear or every band/artist, I have heard so much awesome music, it is difficult to remember it all. FAR more good than bad. Just try to keep an open mind and be fair to a new sound.

That's a great interpretation, but I think this song was actually inspired by a movie (James talked about this in an interview) where a puppet controls a person but it looks like the person is controlling the puppet. So everyone thinks the person is controlling the puppet but actually it's the tiger way around.

@@theof4455 everybody interprets a song through the filters of their own experiences. "Wish You Were Here" means different things to different people. The analogies used in a lot of music allow for interpretation, and for more people to connect to a song. It's what gives a song meaning to a fan.

I genuinely thought "Sad But True" was all about drug addiction. The drugs making you do everything to get a fix, lie, steal, betray... so seductive, but then let's you take the blame. Never killing the pain, just delaying it because it's always there when you come down, cause it no longer cares. Sad but true...

Many people confuse their conscience with God. They hear that inner monologue in their mind and they think it's a dialogue with a deity. Whenever I hear someone say, "God told me so and so..." The snare and kick drums are so distinctive. You can hear them in a loud bar and automatically know that Metallica is on the jukebox

@@BATTIS94 He has sadly deteriorated a lot over the years. His time is terrible, he can't remember his own songs and it looks like he's thinking of something else half the time. Doesn't take away the fact that his drumming is fantastic on these early albums, though.

The second person you mention "hovering" could be thought of as ourselves. Every time I hear this song I think of my (lack of) shadow work. When you embrace and come to terms with yourself as a whole of your true parts, you can truly live as who you are and who you are meant to be.
