The thing I find funny and baffling, is that Metalica fans have been asking for them to put something more hardcore, like their very old stuff out for a long time. Then when Metalica does with this song and album, alot of people hate on it. I personally love this song. The lyrics especially, because I have felt the way he did in the lyrics of that song. It hit home with me. I like the chaotic sound. It captures the moment of a rage. That everyone has felt in life. That moment when your so angry with everything that you want to smash someone or something. Kinda like Slipknots 1st album that made them famous. It was erie, it was chaotic, it was pain, it was suffering, it was sadness, it was mysery and everyone has felt all these things. Basically it comes down to taste and what your life has been like, as to what you perfer and what hits home with you. I will agree some of it sounds sloppy. Maybe thats the way they intended it, cause life is'nt always a bowl of cherries. Just my opinion. You know what they say about opinions lol.

In all honesty, I fucking love the snare on this album, it gives the music such a damn unique sound. I just can't imagine this song without the snare sounding the way it does. It just adds an awesome layer to the heaviness.

I hate the snare, it ruined the album for me. And this was supposed to be their return to metal after about a decade of hard rock. It is too trashcanny. I enjoy, flinch, enjoy, flinch, enjoy, flinch,... every time i listen to this song, because i can't stand that stupid snare. I'm really in anger with it.
@MrPapamaci885 жыл бұрын
This album isn't about pretty things, it's about stress, depression, shit like that. The clanking that so many found annoying or lame, that noise fits the theme, that pounding headache called life, and I like it. People complained also about the lack of solos, but these songs aren't your normal romantic songs about some higher or hidden truth. These are statements, shouting their message! Clear and simple, these songs relfect that notion as well. This album states "we're fucking pissed, so fuck you all", and I just love it, this is true post-modern high art disguised as a part of popular culture. Most people didn't get it, like they also don't get the usual modern artsy shit. No suprises there. :D

The whole album is Metallica exorcising it’s demons, like all the emotional issues they had to deal with as their success kept taking them farther and they never had a chance to keep up.
@aldmjr5 жыл бұрын
Ethan truth Still, even with the amazing story behind this album, I feel like it’s just wasted potential. I’ve listened to it completely, but there are some songs that just outright overstay their welcome, like this and The Unnamed Feeling for example. And they have some really interesting lyrics. I’d say I really enjoy about 4 songs: Sweet Amber (best main riff on the album), Frantic (I wish the album would keep up/improve upon this opener, probably the BEST SONG here), Dirty Window and Invisible Kid (really good lyrics, with a good enough set of instrumental composition). I really wish I liked it more after watching Some Kind of Monster, but I just don’t...

I like the different sound of this album. The drum sounds raw and aggressive and vocals by James on this song are cool, it's not like their first pure thrash metal albums but damn really catchy. I don't care what anyone says. This album as much if not more raw emotion than any other album Metallica ever made. The lyrics in this album speak out to me more than most Metallica albums. 'Medallion noose, I hang myself. St. Anger round my neck.' Amazing! What makes them even more respectable as a band is that most Metallica fans didn't like this album so they reverted back to a more familiar sound FOR the fans. That's dedication to the fans right there.

St. Anger may not be a masterpiece album to some stuck-up metal reviewers, but St. Anger saved Metallica and I’m glad it was made. Even if I didn’t love this songs on this album, I’d love the album for how it brought Metallica back from the brink. Of course they still had messed up shit to deal with after the album was dropped, but it pushed them back onto the road to recovering the band from disaster. Jason quit (due to teasing-gone-way-too-Far by James and Lars) James goes into rehab and the whole band is dealing with an emotional roller coaster as they lost an amazing bassist and dealing with James attempts to control every little thing in the band. I’m glad they got through the stuff and can keep touring and making music.
