32 years later and I still weep for the loss of the main reason I picked up the bass guitar. Geezer, JPJ, Lemmy; they all have their respective places in my heart for their contributions to paving the way to a great, great genre of music...but there was something so incredibly special about Cliff. Much like Randy and his 6 stringer; it is hard to imagine what could have been If Cliff drew a lower card. I can only imagine what direction he would have taken that classic thrash sound (given I could not see him on board for the Black Album)? Say what you will; but to me Mefallica died with Cliff. I hold the utmost respect for Jason and Robert; it's just not the same. Long live "The Four Stringed Mother Fucker."

Stax Jackson Jason sucked, cliff wouldn’t have liked most of and justice, he would’ve never done the black album, or load and reload, or st anger. Death magnetic is right up his alley, and hardwired is pushing it lol, Robert is great tho, Jason just wasn’t good

Cliff's tastes in music were all over the map. He liked everything from simple 3 chord punk, like the Misfits, to folksy stuff like Simon and Garfunkel and Skynyrd, to classical stuff like Bach, to prog rock like Rush. He would have been down with the Black Album, but would have made it 1000 times better. Load, and St. Anger, probably not so much.
