I like your ideas, have you tried Rocket Card glue? far better than a PVA type glue bonds quicker. I used a Metcalf N scale bridge kit used the butteries to support a Peco girder beams, with the remainder of the kit, being used with plastic card to form another bridge (due to Metcalf only being designed for the striate lines, not for curves). 👍🏻
