Many methods of incense warm the fragrant herbs rather than burning them. This is much nicer in many ways because there is no smoke. The aroma is more subtle but can be quite divine,

I just finish reading your paper on San fu moxibustion. I just want to say thank you so much for your work. I am so fascinated with your work. I lived in China for over 10 years when I went back to the US I signed up myself to TCM school because I couldn’t get enough of ancient Chinese wisdom on the health field 😊

Very peaceful and informative video. One thing that you didn't mention is that for warming/heating incense the ability to adjust the temperature is very useful. Depending upon the ingredients in the blend, an incense can be warmed optimally between 90F-200F, this is one reason the electric incense heaters really shine. There is also a brass, candle powered incense heater, made in India that has a cup that slides up and down a stem, making it adjustable to a particular blend or material. If you are using ash, you can also add mica plates to adjust the temperature. But, as you mention in the video, the ash technique is not really conducive to our 21st century mindset (although soon may be! :) )

instead of mica plate can i use foil for slow burning and what do you call that small silver plate next to the 2 mica plates?
@LorraineWilcox2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you could use foil, but it is thinner than the mica plate, so you need a few layers. Also, the foil will transfer heat more than the mica. If you catch the slightest bit of burnt smell, it is too hot. As for the silver plate, silver was also used in the past. I guess it is just a silver plate. I don't know what else to call it.

@@LorraineWilcox is mica plate better than silver plate and can u reuse the mica plates?
@LorraineWilcox2 жыл бұрын
Mica plates are easier to find and probably less expensive. Both can be reused multiple times.

I just checked amazon and they have mica plates. Search for "SHOYEIDO Mica Plate". I take pleasure in having the proper tools, but also I need to watch my budget.

I'm very interested in the incense paper and how to make it. I'd love to see you make a video about it 💖

I have a video on it. I put out another video each Monday. I'll do this one next Monday, but I must say, I am not satisfied with my knowledge on this yet.
