The way Methos voice changes tone as he confesses to MacLeod who he once was and what he did is a chilling thing to witness and hear... Particularly when he says how many he killed and that he was Death, followed by one of the best "villain laughs" I've ever heard. Peter Wingfield delivered one of the greatest moments of the entire series in that scene.

The fact that Methos was so much older than Ducan gave all their scenes great tension and dynamics. Hard to pick one. But I could go with that one for the reasons mentioned.

My favorite Methos and Duncan is when they first met. Duncan is meeting a watcher named Adam because he is looking for Methos. Then he realizes that it’s Methos. It is genius to be passing yourself off as a watcher when in reality you are 5000 year old immortal.

My favorite scene has to be the one where Methos takes Duncan's barge as payment for something, then later randomly decides to give it back and tosses him the keys causing him to drop and destroy a priceless artifact. It was clear in that moment that Methos never really intended to keep the barge, but just wanted to troll Duncan as payback for making him do something he really didn't want to do. It was also a good way to show how the guy planned everything out with complete ease.

Methos and Duncan had so many amazing scenes that it's hard to pick a favorite. I loved Darius as an older, wiser mentor type figure for Duncan, but Methos was so layered and complex.. Macleod wasn't ready to accept some of these things the much older immortal did and was willing to do. I know Methos wasn't really a typical teacher but Duncan learned a lot from him without realizing it. Their scenes are some of the best Highlander had to offer. God, so many wonderful scenes between the two. I do have a question, Adrian, if you read these comments. Is it awkward to you that the character of Methos is as popular, if not more so than Duncan or Connor (the actual Highlanders) by the fandom?

The scene that you described is one of my favorites. My other favorite is found in Methos's first episode, aptly entitled "Methos." Methos explains to Duncan that he (Methos) doesn't have the "fire," that is needed to defeat Kalas, but he (Duncan) does. To this day, I remember what Methos said to Duncan: "Live, Highlander. Grow stronger. Fight another day." That's one of my favorite lines uttered by Methos, actually. (The other one is: "Talk about the blind leading the visually challenged," which I use often.)

Honestly. I find that scene incredibly uncomfortable. Not because of what Methos admitted to but the pain in both of them. You could tell it hurt Methos to betray Duncan as much as Duncan hurt being betrayed. It’s like watching two brothers breaking their bonds…absolutely a powerful and crushing scene…

Definitely one of the best and most powerful scenes between the two. Peter played that role incredibly well, as you did with yours, Adrian. Something we all need to consider during our own time here...

I didn't know you had a channel, this is awesome! I just started rewatching Highlander from Season 1. I used to watch it with my mother after school on "PrimeStar." It feels different coming back to it older and so much later, and the show has its ups and downs from a viewer's perspective, but there is a lot I still really love about the show. I really liked the Horsemen episodes because they show a lot of different things, but this include that these are immortal characters who have had drastically different personalities over the centuries; that includes both Duncan and Methos. Methos has a great line in an episode where he says introduces himself as "a man who was born long before the age of chivalry." Really enjoy your acting, and when I get more time I am stoked to check out your channel more. I just stumbled across this.

Yes, that scene was very revealing about his brutal past. Very intense moment for sure and it showed a morality difference between Methos and Duncan. I personally liked another scene where Methos entered the dojo, disrupting Duncan’s kata with sword. Methos humbly asked to see the sword and when Duncan hands it over, Methos turns it on him. Duncan scurry’s for another sword after passively retreating and it’s game on! Duncan school’s Methos with overwhelming proficiency. Or, was it Methos testing him? Anyway, excellent scene.

The scene from Chivalry... Fantastic scene in a great episode. My favorite part of that episode, aside from the one you mentioned, is at the end of the episode when Methos challenges Kristen and she asks him "Who the hell are you?" It was an incredible scene!!! Peter Wingfield made a fantastic Methos!!!❤️ Each time I rewatch “Comes A Horseman” that scene always rips my heart to shreds. You feel the deep pain each character is going through. I would also talk to the television pleading “no…No…NOOOOO!” You could feel the centuries of conflict Methos had with his own heart and no matter how hard he tried to live a different life, a better life, the old life would soon catch up to him. The truth of him was hitting both Methos and Duncan straight in the face. Methos knew he had to face his own hell come what may. There was a resignation with Methos and an unbending moral center in Duncan that in that moment cut right to my heart. Well played Adrian and Peter!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

What I like about Methos is that despite having lived over 5000 years he hasn't become some "on a high horse" person. As he says: "what did you expect, Einstein, Buddha... sorry I'm just a guy". Sure he's cynical about politics, morality. He seems to have an more or less stoic attitude to life. Having been a horseman, he knows the depth of evil, and he knows when it's time to step up and confront it. But it also made him a survivor: he knows most fights should be avoided, people can change, he is not the person to judge another, and the best strategy to win any fight is to simply not fight. I would highlight the scene of one of the last episodes, where he says: "just because I don't like to fight, doesn't mean that I can't". Despite not pontificating, he has the knowledge of a library and he's aware of the multiplicity of things. And despite having seen 5000 years of tragedy, he's still joking around and can still fall in love.

I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of it but somebody did a fan thing where they explain the comma there can only be one ideology. And basically it was a game or contest between the four Horsemen. And they would play it we’re like every 100 years or so whoever won the competition would lead the group. In other words, there can only be one to lead the group. Well this became mythology for the entire immortal pantheon. I myself have come up with my own fan thing which actually goes back to Atlantis and revolves around actually the demon that McLeod hast to fight.

I think part of it was the glee Methos exhibited when telling Duncan. Especially after the laugh when he told him he was Death, the nightmare that kept them awake at night. And it wasn't for revenge, it wasn't for greed. It was because he liked it. Cassandra was nothing. Her village was nothing. Of course, the tragedy was that Methos made it so brutal to push Duncan away. Because, as long as they remained friends, Kronos was intent on Duncan's death. It was the only way he could think of to save Duncan. I've also noted that, although the first thing Duncan would normally have done under those circumstances would be to draw his sword and challenge, it never occurred to him to do so. It wasn't an immortal battle, it was a personal one. Methos couldn't have been safer at that moment.

It was an emotionally raw moment for both Duncand Methos; Duncan was a kid by immortal standards just a few hundred years old whereas Methos was over 5000 years old and thus had more life experience, Duncan must have had the sense to know that Methos lived in eras vastly different than even the Baroque era where Duncan became immortal. It's been a while since I saw that episode but was Duncan hurt that Methos didn't confide in him? I mean Duncan was friends with Darius (RIP Werner Stocker) who had been a warlord earlier in his life and renounced violence thereafter.

When one of his friends or acquitances did something that went against his code of honor, he had a hard time accepting that, and often he simply didn't accept it and either just stopped being friends with that person or even actively fought them. What he especially disliked were Immortals who killed mortals. Many episodes were about him confronting and killing another Immortal simply to punish him for killing a mortal. So for him to find out that someone he liked and considered a close friend was in fact a former mass murderer was a great shock. Duncan has always despised people who did the things Methos used to do, and not just that - Duncan even actively hunted and killed such people to punish them for their crimes. His code of honor demanded he should give Methos the same treatment, to punish those terrible crimes his friend had committed. Yet he liked Methos and didn't want to kill him. It was a big moral dilemma for Duncan. So feeling hurt (or rather betrayed) that Methos didn't confide in him was just a small part of Duncan's problem. I think he never would have become friends with Methos had he known the truth about his past from the start. At the very least he would have immediately rejected Methos and refused to interact with him. Yes, Duncan was friends with Darius who used to be a warlord, but Darius' past has been portrayed as that of a soldier, an army general. Duncan used to be a soldier and a warrior too, so he had no problem with that part of Darius' past. Methos hadn't been a mere warrior but a member of a gang of murderers who killed people for fun. There's a big difference between the two.

That's a good one. Mac was hit like a ton of bricks by Methos there. Another favorite is when Methos takes Mac's barge in "Till Death" Season 4. "If I'm going to die you're going to pay me for it...give me the keys." "But-but I just redecorated!" "Nice job....give me the keys."

I'm so impressed that you didn't rehearse that scene! It's tremendously memorable for both characters. There was a restraint in it, yet the electricity of it sparks off the screen. I hope you and Peter got along well in real life!

Loved that scene too. And Macleod had to know that in 5000 years, no one is an angel all the time. Methos understood that and somehow Macleod couldn't. He felt betrayed but shoukd have realized Methos had his demons as well

I have been rewatching Highlander The Series and I just got to those episodes recently. Honestly I think that that moment was very powerful acting. I also like the end of the Horseman arc when Silas and Kronos were killed by McCleod and Methos and Cassandra wanted to kill Methos, but Mac said he wanted Methos to live. Honestly the Horseman Arc was my favorite part of Highlander the Series.

I say we need one more movie or a limited series like one more season of a Highlander with Adrian Paul as Duncan MacLeod where we will finally see him absolutely win the prize and let his story be absolutely finished for sure.

When Methos shot you in the back for being annoying, that was really funny. I wish there had been many more Methos scenes and even Methos solo episodes. That character was pretty much the closest anyone could get to understanding the origins of society and immortals and The Watchers.

That is indeed one of the best scenes in the series. As for the characters I know it is creating a great story but I would hope in reality Duncan would see that that is not who Methos is anymore and offer him grace. It makes me think of people who have committed horrible acts in their life and who are deeply remorseful and what they need is forgiveness.

Speaking of restraint, the episode with Vanity(may she rest in peace). Was a great story and she looked soooo good😉But yeah the relationship with Methos was sometimes visceral. He was a great character

I think that Highlander Endgame and Highlander The source are both underrated largely. And I'm on the source right now seeing that it has some absolutely very cool scenery and post-apocalyptic type feel to it that really really visually works for me and I think it is awesome!

The final fight between you two. It was the ultimate "who would win with bloodlust on" As good as the fight was, Duncan had the advantage because he's seen Methos fight. Alternate timeline Methos had never met Duncan.

I am on a huge Highlander kick right now! Just bought the entire tv series on Vudu and grabbed Endgame also! Such a blast! Wish they had the producer's cut of Endgame on Vudu. I have that cut on DVD though.

I thought that scene was one of MacLeod's greatest outpourings of hypocrisy I'd ever seen. Methos should have bitch-slapped Macleod royally.

I remember the episode ‘Methos’. In the episode, Duncan is reading ‘Being And Nothingness’ by Jean-Paul Sartre. Once when he’s moments away from battling Methos and the second time when Duncan is in Methos’ empty apartment at the end of the episode. I’m curious as if that particular book being shown twice in the same episode was a coincidence, or was there suppose to be a deeper meaning. I’ve always been curious by that.

My favourite episode, Jesus there so many?, probably I'd say when the evil Duncan squared off against his friend Richie (rip), that was a powerful scene and considering Adrian and the lads friendship (real), plus that fight was so intense for Richie going up against an excellent sword fighter as Duncan (Adrian). The other good one for me would have to be when Duncan fought Anthony delongis that was a spectacular fight, and so great to see 2 great sword coordinators, masters of the sword go to work toe toe to toe. Love highlander!. Pity that series never run for a seventh series. Just hope this remake can live up to expectations and the original, it will be tough, but time will tell.

The best way to describe that scene in real life terms? Like a grand child of a 'harmless' OAP - discovering he or she is an EX Nazi soldier and confronting them about it. It's a complete betrayal of everything you had with that person. Everything from the person to the relationship is a lie.

Methos episode Adrian was very intense something that you can see in both of you and Methos there was also a continued episode revelation 6:8 I watched both the one you mentioned and the second part today. Gosh, I can't believe how much tension there was in both episodes.
