Metro is a German-owned company, with over 600 superstore locations in 21 countries and offers a HUGE selection of wholesale goods such as food, kitchen tools, decor, toiletries and more. It’s open to the public as well as retailers, with a membership. All items can be purchased in bulk or individually as needed…but of course, the more you buy, the more you save :)
Join me as I do a walk through and some shopping at their Vidikovac (Belgrade) location.

Looks better than Costco! I'm planning on retiring in 4 years and living part of the year in Serbia which is where my parents are from, can't wait!

Thank you! I didn’t include prices as they might change over time so what I show in the video could become incorrect. The good thing is that they have their prices listen on their site and often have special deals and offers. It’s free to get a membership for the public (if you’re not registering as a business). www.metro.rs/

I hate these stores that look like a factory warehouse. I like supermarkets where goods are out of boxes and neat on shelves, not in transport boxes.

There’s one in Zemun but this one is in Vidikovac. They have another somewhere else in Belgrade too and several other locations across Serbia.

@@gamal-salem well, I'm not sure what the procedure is now, but when they opened here in Serbia, they issued cards to retailers and other business owners, and without the card you couldn't shop there, also you had to buy in bulk. Then they saw it was a huge mistake, and they allowed buying individual items, but you still had to have a card to purchase something. Their business still wouldn't pick up so they changed their policy for non business owners to shop but you had to apply for a temporary one time purchasing (for a lack of a better word) permit when you enter the place. It was quick, you just had to give your ID, and they issued you a piece of paper with a code (bar code or QR code, I'm not sure), but it was an unnecessary nuisance. That's why you will rarely see a lot of people there. As for the best store, it really depends, in my neighborhood, there is a small store chain called "Orašac" very close to the farmers market from one of your previous vlogs, Vidikovac farmers market. They have very good prices, although not nearly as big as Metro, but in Serbia, we really aren't used to buying in bulk anyway, we shop for a day or for a few days at most at the time. Most people like to buy fresh groceries. As for other more commonly found stores, "Maxi" is the most popular followed closely by "Lidl", in my opinion

@@gamal-salem looks like my comment was deleted. When they opened here in Serbia they had a policy to only sell to business owners and to only sell in bulk. People in Serbia aren't really used to buying groceries for a week or a month. We usually buy fresh groceries for a day or for a couple of days at the time. As for the most popular stores in Serbia it's probably Maxi followed closely by Lidl

@@r4v3n62I still see your original comment. But I totally understand why this concept is a bit strange for Serbs. In North America people LOVE buying in bulk. For me this was also strange when I first moved to Canada because in Egypt people shop daily or every 2 days especially for fruits, vegetables, bread. But if I compare this store to Costco, it’s way better. Bigger selection. Costco also charges a yearly fee for their membership and Metro is free for the general public. I love mega Maxi by the way 😁

@@gamal-salem something similar to mega Maxi would be "DIS" or "Roda mega market"
