Holy crap, I had downloaded this song over a decade ago. It was in my regular music rotation. And then I just lost track of it somehow, probably when I replaced an old computer. Glad to have it back, that's some nostalgia. Once in a while KZfaq's recommendations work out.

I've been listening to this song for over a decade as well. I still remember being blown away by this song, because I didn't like Phendrana drifts when playing the game and the music seemed utterly forgettable, but this? This is phenomenal.

Phendrana Drifts is one of my favorite themes from the Metroid franchise (First is "Frozen in Time" from Metroid Fusion, this one's second.) I don't know why, but it feels emotional to me for some reason. It's like it's trying to make me remember something from my past.

3:44 onward actually has me shedding tears, what the fuck. If I had to say what sound perfectly conveys how I felt after I beat my first metroid game when I was just about 12 years old, it would be that time frame in this song. I don't think I've ever actually cried over a song until now.

This is beautiful... I love how it captures the "ice" feel; not many songs of the metal genre can do this. Fantastic... it takes me back to the first time I entered this frigid area, so cold, so awesome.

@ChaosInsanist True, but it would be awesome to see this in the next metroid game in the following situation: for the first half or so of the game, its done with a piano and very calm, but In the 3/4 of the game, you go to phendrana and the whole area starts falling apart because right underneath you is norfair/magmoor and ridley/kraid is causing the temperature to rise. it would be intense and awesome to see giant icy rocks crumbling as fire shoots out of the ground and stuff.

@OfNmW1 if you dont know this song is by Metroid Metal. They host a website with free MP3 downloads for these songs which is made by them. They also have albums and they even hosted live concerts. These guys are amazing.
