I disagree with Tim. Metroid Dread was a sequel to a handheld game from almost 20 years ago. It gave you a quick recap at the beginning, it didnt hold your hand very much in terms of lore, and it's the best-selling game in the series. I dont want a Metroid Prime game that doesn't acknowledge or continue the other games in the hopes of selling more copies. Bless is right when he said Retro focused on what the fans would want. Mario and a lot of recent Nintendo games have used that standard and have sold more games than ever.

Other than the perspective, it really isn’t an fps at all. It’s an exploration game in a first person view first and foremost.

This is always the weirdest argument. Multiple franchises have multiple entries. There will always be the “stigma” of being a sequel in a franchise, so I guess you shouldn’t make the game or name it that? If you’re gonna be intimidated then don’t buy in. Metroid is never really about appealing to the casual gamer audience… and that’s kind of by design. The nonlinear gameplay, the difficulty, all of it. Also bringing up Other M in 2024 is wild as fuck, cause we have Super, Fusion, Dread, Prime 1-3, we have way more upside than downside. But yeah, we get the shade, the most simplistically designed Metroid is the bad one. Metroid being a “tech demo” is laughable. It’s far too complex, given the precedent.

I'm disappointed that the combat seems to be the same as it was back in Gamecube days. I was hoping for a modern shooter feel in terms of combat. Yes, people say "it's about exploration, it's ok for the combat to be not great" NO! Honestly, just imagine an exploration Metroidvania game, but with modern shooter controls (like in a Titanfall game). It would have elevated the game in my opinion. This whole lock on thing, I did not enjoy it in Metroid Prime. I wish they made it more fun.

Metroid prime remaster had updated controls. You can play like it was on GameCube or with modern controls. I assume 4 will be the same

Completely different games. Metroid prime is awesome, I love Metroid and doom for entirely different reasons. Doom is run, jump, and shoot very fast paced. Metroid is slow paced and methodical

I recommend the Metroid Prime series if u like gyro aiming, unique mechanics (she transforms into a rolling spider ball that can crawl thru small holes n up to the ceilings n walls), smart puzzles, cool environments, exploration, good vg music, a wide variety of enemies & boss battles, etc

I feel u, but metroid is not really an action shooter like doom. In a nutshell, metroid is the dungeon design of zelda, but implemented everywhere in the world not just the dungeons

WTF this looks.. not... great. did they feed 1-3 into AI and say, make more? The most generic looking metroid game i ever saw. After all this time waiting, THIS is what they give us? NO new gameplay or better graphics, or level design or ANYTHING? seriously nintendo? and the net's just gonna eat this up cause we waited so long. What a disappointment. But that's basically nintendo's entire business model now. SMH

It’s showing the opening mission. I agree they didn’t show anything new but the end scene where they show the planet Samus will explore gets me excited about the possibilities

Have you seen the entire game? I only saw the trailer but you seem to have played through the entire game. Have you done a lets play so everybody else can see it?

What on earth were you expecting? What did you even watch? We wanted more metroid prime, this is more metroid prime. Hence the title. The graphics are quite impressive considering the hardware that it's running on. You can also tell that the environments are much larger than in previous games. This is the very first showing of the game. I guarantee that there will be big gameplay changes coming. This is the trailer that showed us that metroid prime 4 is coming and that people should expect to see more soon. People are eating this up because it has been so long AND because it looks good so far with more to come.
