Metropolitan Line S Stock Cab Ride Amersham to Watford 24rd Via the North Curve

An insight into the job showing you a scheduled move that takes place on weekdays from Amersham to Watford and then back to Rickmansworth to stable.
In Part 1, We begin at Amersham platform 1 having detrained and are now running empty to Watford 24rd Siding via the North Curve which is used by only a handful of trains a day.
Departing Amersham we pass through Chalfont & Latimer, Chorleywood and Rickmansworth before we divert left round the North Curve passing Croxley and then into 24rd South.

It’s fascinating that so many sections of the Tube outside of central London are actually overground - I often wonder will this be the case when the DART underground in Dublin and the Dublin Metro eventually get built 🇮🇪☘️🇬🇧❤️

I like your videos mate 👍 but I have a question do you drive in manual after Finchley Road or is it auto for all the lines?

@@andrewfieldhouse1945 glad you enjoy the content. If you mean south from Finchley road towards baker st and Aldgate those areas are auto but from Finchley rd going northbound towards wembley park and beyond we drive in tripcock mode.

@@traindrivergamer4279because so many parts of the Metrolink tram network outside of central Manchester switch from street running mode to rail mode, many of Manchester Metrolink Trams can run on normal rail tracks in certain parts of the network, which incorporated former rail lines that had closed down in the 1960’s and were repurposed for use by trams - we see this also on certain parts of the LUAS Tram network in Dublin

Hi mate, why are there so many new signal lights covered over with black plastic bags? Some are even in a lowered position. Been like it for ages. Would be good to know

Hi, they are new signals that will be controlled by the ato system when that section goes live. The chiltern trains and any engineering trains that wont use the system will follow those new lineside signals and the met trains will follow the info on the drivers SID in the cab.

@@MCJC96 yes eventually the whole met line will be under new signalling. The project is way behind schedule though and there is constant rumours that some areas will remain under original line side signalling but again rumours at this point.

@@MCJC96 some upgrades have a higher priority and covid didnt help literally the ato ssr upgrade ground to a halt so its way behind.

yes it was from the northbound met's positive shoegear coming off the end of the positive rail sometimes will cause a spark due to collecting current as its accelerating
