Before you trash the pen you should pay attention to the fact that the umpire was absolute trash diekman had Blackman struck out 3 times but the up screwed him and that leads to a HR that never should have happened!

How come Diekman is never unavailable or dealing with a nagging injury & he is always ready to pitch. I never wish injury for anyone but isn’t it just flat out funny how the guys who suck are always ready go.

The Mets exploded with homeruns and they needed every last one. I mean, they would need every last one. That is so interesting how they scored just enough runs to win. I didn't think it would end up being so tight. I thought they were going to cruise to a win. With Diekman, I know Mendoza keeps believing and hoping that he can be what he appears to have the potential to be. I do like that he is looking to give him opportunities to turn it around and find that groove and stick with it. Mendoza is far from stupid. He gave Diekman this other opportunity with more of a cushion but now he should react to that performance. I think he's not giving up on him yet. But he is a headache man. He has the stuff to be dominant but I think it is his delivery and arm alot that is hard to master and use with real steady control. Ottavino is the other example. Ron Darling explained it the best. Their deliveries and arm slots before letting go of the pitches need to be perfect every time. I'm not going to mind at all if Ottavino and Diekman are removed from the team. I like Diekman more than Ottavino. Ottavino though seemed to find his groove in his last outing. Who of us thought that he was going to keep that 1st shutout intact. Under that pressure he started unloading some high quality pitches. The frustrating thing about these 2 guys is that they have such good stuff but just can't have it consistantly under a steadfastened command. I just don't think that Mendoza should expect for these guys to become post season trustworthy arms to have in his bullpen. They need to upgrade from those 2 arms. Garret might come back and be himself again. But he has to be used differently. I think Nuñez has emerged to take demand of the current set up man job. The Mets need a brand new lefty in the pen. They need a real deal lefty. Especially now with Raley not in the picture. Raley doesn't throw 100 mph but with his stuff he is a real deal lefty. He comes after you with quality pitches and doesn't play around. Now the Mets need a true powerful lefty who has control of his stuff. Someone they can trust in the playoffs. Young is looking to be the Raley replacement but now they need a true upgrade from Diekman. Hey man, if he's not going anywhere right now, then we just have to breathe through this and hope he really finds the control that he needs. Work on shifting his delivery. Work on his arm slot. Work on something possibly that may be even slightly different that might give him the control of his pitches that he needs. He has the stuff. He has the fastball. He has the slider. He has to pin point his fastball and hit the inside and outside corners. He needs to hit the zone vs lefties with his fastball on the inside and middle of the zone, on the inside and upper corner of the zone. He needs to be able to pound his fastball high in the zone but in the zone and inside on those lefties. And he has to pound the very outside of the zone but in the zone on the upper side of the zone and on the middle and lower end in the zone and do the same with his slider. For example: A lefty comes up. He needs to throw a fastball hard, for a strike inside in the middle or high in the zone inside to where he can jam the lefty if he tries to pull that pitch. So it'll be a strike if he doesn't swing or a jammed shot to break his bat or weakly ground out or hit a foul. And he has to let go of that fastball with no fear full of more conviction. And against the lefty he has to throw a indoor slider that looks like it's going to hit him but it breaks right into the very inside of the zone for a strike. Then he has to pound the very outside of the zone hard with fastballs aswell vs lefties. He has to throw it hard and trust his fastball to throw it in the zone for a strike but still on the outside on the corner. The same with doing it with his slider. Against righties he has to pound strikes inside but in the zone. Strikes that are also meant to jam and break bat's and or get weak ground balls or foul balls. To me if he can throw his fastball hard high and inside but still in the zone against both lefties and righties and he compliments that high fast ball with a slider that breaks in on lefties and on the righties, he can be dominant. This is what I believe he tries todo all the time but his delivery doesn't have a real steady balance all the way through and he kind of falls over as he is letting go of the ball. It's just a delivery and arm slot that doesn't support his upper body with his stuff consistently and if that cannot be corrected then he shouldn't be kept in the Mets bullpen. Does that make sense? I'm glad to hear that Orze was called back to be given another shot. I really liked what I saw. He threw a high quality change up that wasn't called a strike. If he wasn't a rookie he would've gotten that call I believe. He deserved that strike. I was waiting for the umpire to call it strike 3. I was upset. I think he's going to show everyone that it was a mistake to send him down and the right call to call him back. With Bader to change the topic as I heard you bring him up, I had the sense that he could be what he has been for the Mets if he stood healthy. He's learned to remain healthy with the Mets and that to me makes him a star level player for the team now. Now he can hit both lefties and righties and he's staying healthy. The guy has just about everything. You mentioned Fujinama, and that is the man I'm looking forward to seeing emerge to what he can be with the Mets. Honestly I want him to take Ottavinos spot. I want the best for Ottavino, I mean, I feel it for the guy when he struggles so much. But like Diekman his delivery and arm slot before throwing the ball doesn't support his stuff with consistency. I disagree with Isaac about Vientos. Like Alvarez he also is just showing now what he's only becoming. He's going to hit 30-40 or more homeruns as he matures further. That guy has ultra power. He smacks balls high in the zone and still powers the balls out of the park. He hit a homerun vs a pitch that looks like it jammed him high and inside and the ball kept traveling the other way and left the park. He has serious power and he knows it but he is also showing that he's going to be a hitter. Him and Alvarez will be 30-40 or more homerun hitters. And look at how Nimmo has evolved even more now to be what he is being now. I don't know how in the world MLB doesn't want him in the all star team for the national league. Am I writing too much? Lol. Oh right, Christian Scott goes today. I thought he would get his 1st win in his last start. He almost got it. He's smart and bold. He just needs to keep getting wiser like I think he will. He's pumped. He should finally get that first win today. LGM

I'm looking forward to Scott getting his first win and really complete his job today. Mendoza will do a better job with the pen to make sure he gets his win. Let's go. He has to trust his fastball more. He just has todo a slight tweak to how much he uses his fastball and other pitches. He can paint the corners so he has to use his breaking pitches just a little better to set himself up to use his fastball more and he should begin winning as soon as today hopefully. Now the BP has Diaz, Nuñez, Maton, Orze along with Butto, and Houser, so this should bring more.of a steadiness to their pen until they make moves.
