We should talk more about Mendoza. Hes fired up and has a playoff team now he defended Jose like a champ. Say what you will but in this instance im happy with Mendoza standing up for his team there

I'm so happy. This team finally seems like it has a real spark in it, that they're here to play and that they matter. I was doubtful about Carlos at the beginning of the season, but I'm so glad he proved me wrong

Every Game Mets need to keep pouring on the runs and continue their good offense ... They may be leading but the other team always manages to catch up and if not for the Mets adding on runs ... The other team could have taken the lead ... That's why Mets need all the hits and runs they can get.

This team doesn’t have a chance without major bullpen improvements. Watching Dork-man and Maton hang a couple more freebies was so painful. The offense can’t support forever. Overhaul the pitching coaches and staff and get someone in there that can help the guys in the bullpen improve their stuff. That’s about the only legit option at this point.

Ottovino had a bad stretch, but is a solid and reliable reliever. It doesn't take much to have a relievers ERA shoot up. After his first 18 appearances, he had a 2.95 ERA. After his next 6, it had ballooned to 5.96. Mostly due to one appearance in which he gave up 4 runs in 1/3 of an inning. Over the 12 appearances since that 6 game, he has pitched 12.1 innings with 15 Ks, 4 walks, teams are batting .187 against him, and hisERA is 2.92. Bringing it back down is much harder and takes a long time for a reliever, but he has brought his back down to 4.89. He has made 26 appearances without giving up an earned run. 5 games in which he has surrendered any earned runs, the Mets have won anyway. He has been a very effective pitcher since joining the Mets and has a solid track record for his career. In his 3 seasons with the Mets, including this one thus far, his ERA is 3.10. For his 14 year career, 3.49. Very solid and reliable.

Stop going lefty righty in the 8th inning! Just use Nunez with Maton every third day. Then replace Diekman when you can find someone. In the longterm, I'm concerned about Diaz. His stuff is WAY DOWN. And it is ridiculously sad. All thanks to his brother jumping on him and wrecking his knee. He is not the same and the Mets, beat writers and fans need to start stating the obvious. He's not useless, but he is going to be BAD in the playoffs. And that is just unfair for all of us, including him.
