HI, Although a 3-point calibration provides good results for most cases, in the case of extreme measurements, a 5-point calibration is often recommended. The choice of buffers must be decided based on the range of pH measurement of the sample. Slow response can be caused due to difference in the temperature of the buffers and/or samples. We would suggest you keep all the solutions at the same temperature before measurement and keep the sensor dipped in the solutions for at least 10 seconds before measuring. This will reduce the response time! There is no specific time limit for any sensor to lock reading. Slope and offset depend on the sensor’s condition and cannot be changed

We would recommend reconditioning the sensor based on the samples. Reconditioning should also be done when you see the slope reducing. Immerse the sensor in 0.1M HCl for 12 hours. This will clean the sensor and get rid of all the contaminants/ samples but will also dehydrate the sensor. To rehydrate the sensor immerse it in ion rich solution like 3M KCl or pH 4.01 solution after rinsing with deionized water well. Post this you can go ahead with calibration as always.

We’re supposed to store the sensors in InLab Storage solution(www.mt.com/global/en/home/products/Laboratory_Analytics_Browse/pH-meter/pH-buffer-standard-and-electrolyte/pH-electrolyte/Storage-Solution-InLab-250mL.html). Alternately, 3M KCl or buffer pH 4 can be used for short term storage.
