Also I'm curious what these numbers for FS would be if you used gspro instead of their app. I've found the algo for GSpro to be more accurate to my yardages so I'm wondering if the formula they use could produce some even better results. Like at 13:45 you see the carry is off but the ball speed and backspin are read essentially the exact same.

Thank you! I wondered the same thing and I tried it out on the same day I made this video. I didn’t see anything that seemed like it was much different than the FS app so I didn’t continue. It would be worth trying again and giving it a more thorough look though.

The quad is a great launch monitor but for 12,000 less the mevo plus is a really good unit as well keep up the good videos

Yeah overall it holds up well on the majority of shots. Also I love that Flightscope puts out updates and doesn’t use a subscription model.

Hey Friendly golfer! I originally had the same issue with driver but was able to get it solved by using RCT balls and having Fustion tracking on. Shot shape was the same as my APOGEE where prior it was not. Lots of settings with the Mevo but I find when set up correctly it is a great by.

truth is , if you're within 5% its good enough. Reason is on the golf course there are so many variables --- wind , grass , temperature , side hill lie , downhill lie , uphill lie , humidity etc etc

When you hit those shots that were way off from one another...could you feel which one was correct? Would you assume that it is the Mevo that is off? Great job producing this content!!!

I think it’s safe to assume the Quad is the correct one. Several of those were hit on the heel or the toe of the driver which caused the fade or hook and Mevo+ did the opposite or showed a straight shot. I think there were at least one or two differing shot shapes that were hit pretty center on the face. Not sure why I got a different shape on those. Overall I feel like the mevo+ shows less dispersion. Thanks for watching!

Great video! I really appreciate the downloadable data too! I recently traded in my old Flightscope Xi+ for a Mevo Plus with the Pro Package. I was pleasantly surprised how accurate the Mevo+ is with the GW and 7 iron on launch angle and spin. The spin was very accurate with the Driver too, but the launch angle was off quite a bit on a few shots. I wonder what effect the distance to the screen at 11.5 ft affected the data (Flightscope recommends min 13ft). On your video with Mevo+ vs. BLP at 8ft, the Mevo+ had accuracy issues. I know with my Xi+ and metallic stickers, there was a big difference between 12 ft and 15 ft in the ability to measure spin vs providing an estimated spin (italicized numbers) with a ball speed between 165-170mph. At 12 ft, it was about 40-50% measured at 15 ft is 90-100%. Have you considered testing the driver at a longer distance, somewhere between 13 and 15 ft? Thanks.

Interesting, the 13ft ball flight was news to me. I just confirmed they say 13ft recommended on their FAQ. Everything used to just say 8ft minimum and most people found they got their best results with 10-12ft of ball flight. 13ft of ball flight is probably not very likely for most people with home golf simulators. It definitely makes sense that the more ball flight it has the more likely it can measure the ball accurately. As far as estimated spin I've found the Titleist RCT balls do a great job and I have a video comparing them to the metallic dots. I could move back another foot just for testing but probably not any more. I would just assume the more flight the better.

@@friendlygolferdotcom Thanks for your response. I am setting up a net in the backyard and I asked Flightscope about optimal distance and they basically said more is better. I'll have to view your video on RCT vs dots. But I am afraid it's going to convince me to buy RCT balls :)!

I feel like I’ve made this comment before (maybe on a different video), but I’d love to see this comparison OUTDOORS where the ball flight can be observed. It’s pretty easy to identify a push vs a gear effect draw! Like you, I tend to trust the GCQ, but these big number differences, especially with the driver, make me wonder.

I know that were using a Bushnell Launch Pro in previous videos and now you have the GC Quad. Any difference in the numbers between those 2 units? Also, I have noticed the Mevo+ is shorter on many drives especially if they are lower height wise. Thanks

I never had them both at the same time but I did not notice a difference at all going from one to the other. That’s why I recommend the BLP / GC3 because it performs just like a Quad with less data for a fraction of the price. I agree the Mevo+ seems consistently shorter with driver. Some shots are very close in distance but on average they are shorter.

On your 4th driver shot, where CGQuad has the ball 23.2 yards to the left, looking at the club path of +1.5 and Face to Path of _1.5, wouldn't that create a pretty straight ball flight. If you looked at Face Impact for that shot with GCQuad, did you hit that ball off the toe, thus producing a gear effect and a big hook to the left, while Mevo + didn't pick up Gear Effect? Would be nice to have both units with Face Impact. I thing that would help explain the difference.

The next two numbers after face to path on the Foresight side are horizontal and vertical impact. The horizontal impact of +12 indicates a pretty extreme impact on the toe so I think you're correct.

Have been using Mevo+ for two years. Your driver results are consistent with what I have experienced. Driver shot shape on the golf course does not match my Mevo+ shot shape. As you say, I believe it struggles with the gear effect. My typical miss is in the heel - on the golf course it starts left and curves right but Mevo+ usually has it as a bad pull hook. Planning on upgrading to BLP or Eye Mini - are you ever planning on doing a comparison ? Thanks for all of your great content.

Actually my eye mini was delivered today! It will take me a little bit get used to it and do an initial review. Eventually I do plan on doing a comparison with BLP but not side by side since I traded my BLP for the Quad. Thanks for watching!

Ppl have too much faith in the gc. I’ve hit a gc3 on the range and the left/right was way off. I mean way off. It could have been struggling with the lighting but I haven’t been able to trust it since.
