The exception is with King Taco in the Los Angeles area. Even though it's sort of a "fast food" restaurant it's authentic.

Where I live, idk if it’s anywhere else, we have a Mexican restaurant called Tequila’s. It gives the adults quesadillas & rice, tacos, anything. The kids get quesadillas and rice or mini sliders with fries, i forgot, both can get soda or water, adults can get alcohol, but I can’t trust mini sliders anymore because one time I bought them and it was PINK INSIDE!!! Yeah, it wasn’t fully cooked. Next time I go… quesadillas and rice…

If you haven't done a Dr. Pepper taste test (they have a number of different varieties) that would be a good one. I can see how it could have a very odd taste if you didn't grow up with it.
