Well, that’s because it is the truth! that wasn’t Mexican dishes. Real Mexican tacos are from corn tortilla (not crispy) with the meat of your choice and for topoings it should have lettuce, guacamole, tomatoes, cucumber, onions, sour cream, hot salsa and some drops of lime. That’s it, those are the incredients of what a real Mexican taco should have.

I saw that episode. I wasn't sure if the old lady was just being polite, or if the young Chinese Americans were saying what they believe people WANT them to say. Because they grew up in the US and probably don't know authentic Chinese, either.

The burritos if they are authentic from Mexico, they are originally from Sonora and Chihuahua, it is a dish that is only eaten in some parts of northern Mexico.

x2 soy del sur de tamaulipas y acá se comen 2 versiones de burritos: la que es sólo un taco de harina grande con relleno de frijoles, queso y chorizo/carne... o la versión frita (lo mismo pero doblan la tortilla en forma rectangular después de rellenarla y la ponen a freír)

As a mexican having lived in the US and eating both cuisine's I honestly don't think taco bell is bad of course it's not authentic but it's not supposed to be.

Yeah I don’t particularly mind it either. I’ve only been to Taco Bell twice-ish, and honestly, it’s fine. It doesn’t advertise as “authentic” Mexican food, because it’s not Mexican food. It’s Mexican American food. And that’s perfectly fine. Food diverges from its origins all the time. That’s how new cuisines emerge. Thinking food is just the way it’s always been for all eternity, with no change or influence, is ahistorical. It’s like intelligent design, but for gastronomy.

I'm American and lived here my whole life and have been to Taco Bell many times and even I was not aware that they had white rice. Maybe because I don't often order things with white rice in it but I can completely see why she wouldn't know about that especially if she doesn't eat there all the time

Im part Mexican and my grandmother would make traditional Mexican food all the time. I love Taco Bell, it’s not meant to be authentic, it’s actually different enough to where I can really enjoy it without feeling like it’s “fake” Mexican food. Btw, none of my Mexican friends or family members act the way the young people in the video act about Taco Bell, they got their time on camera and just wanted to be assertive with their culture.

I was born in Mexico and I don't have an accent at all. I speak perfect English. Just because you were born in one place doesn't mean you will only ever speak the language from that place or that you will have an accent. Many children who immigrate to the U.S. learn English very quickly and speak it flawlessly.

KillerAsh I'm going to surprise you here but 300 million people do not eat Chipotle unless Obama has recently passed an executive order mandating all citizens to consume at least one serving of Chipotle a day. In any case, it's actually 52 people and the case is serious enough that the feds are involved and every single restaurant across the nation has to close for one day for safety review.

It is also the easiest place to be considered mexican because of its nature... You literally only get a tortilla shell,beans,meat, and guacamole. You cant really screw that up.

A friend of me once told me, tacos are good even when they are wrong :D and i completely agree with her, i tried taco bell when I lived in the USA during summer camps and i loved them, with no many chances to eat mexican food, Taco Bell was good enough for me :D

Mexican americans were to american to be mexican and to mexican to be american "ni de aqui, ni de aya" (not from here or there) chicano is a self identified term so it is in the eyes of the beholder but chicano is someone with mexican heritage/ parents that accepts that they're american but doesnt entirely feel american.

“Why are you makin our food into this?”. It’s just an Americanized fast food version of a taco that’s easy to mass produce. They aren’t claiming it’s the best taco in the world or the most authentic Mexican taco that you will have. It’s a version of taco which btw, already by them using different ingredients, kinda turns it into their own version of tacos. So you can no longer even claim it as “ours” as a Mexican. It’s a different dish.

I like how the people with the strongest american accents possible try to dislike everything about taco bell, but the people who legit cant speak english are the ones who think it is acceptable. Well by law and culturally, they're US Americans. Those latinos who have a strong American accents are not Mexican. I would rather want a Mexican born and raised over there to get a better prespective. Latino can say they are Mexican all they want but at the end day, they're US Americans and grew up here in the states.

Lol. Honestly, it's not good at all. It's good if you're starving and have no money for any real authentic food. That's about as far as Taco Bell goes. It's just a rip off of real good foods made into Americanized fattier versions with a shitload of cheese (pretty cheap cheese) and filler "meat". I learned about this in school. The founder of Taco Bell, this guy named something Bell, tried a mexican taco from this tiny restaurant owned by a mexican immigrant couple, and he loved it. But he knew that Americans wouldn't be so keen to try it, so he "Americanized" the spice, flavors, etc. That's why Taco Bell is so non-authentic.
