The best part about building in Mexico is being able to go at your past and as your budget allows. It’s also so exciting and even if it’s a long process, it allows you to consider decisions a lot more carefully. Our small property purchase is in the outskirts of Tepa. I was born there but grew up in the states. My goal is to have a small cute house that will eventually be my mother’s but if we are able to use it to vacation and visit, that would be perfect! Also to visit her regularly of course. Something I realized a few years ago is that Jalisco is not cheap when it comes to homes and land BUT man it’s beautiful! I LOVE the style you chose for your home!

It’s true what you are saying. Being able to build at my own pace is refreshing, I’m not sure if I were able to that in the states. Jalisco is getting more and more expensive, Zapopan is the second richest city in Mexico so that spills out to neighboring communities including now Chapala

Hi Victor, i am enjoying your videos. In brief, what would be the pros and cons between building a house vs. buying one already built? Greetings from Texas.
@yeshuaismyredeemer
@yeshuaismyredeemer 2 ай бұрын
Hello. The pros of buying is the obvious, no waiting period, and most like going to buy in established neighborhood. The cons on buying is that your buying someone’s else taste in things, and unless you like everything, you will most likely do some renovations. Cons most of the time you will pay a higher price for something already built. Cons in building, you can choose more locations, choose to add your taste in things, lower cost. Cons. Waiting on the build could take a year, dealing with the builder, and materials. I’ve had opportunities to enjoy both process. In the US. I had one home built and also took about a year it was nice. Then I sold it and bought a home that I really liked and that was already built. For me there is other reasons then the ones mentioned above, I got to build this home with my pops, the issues of waiting, building materials and builders was of no concern to me due to my Pops.

Wow! You have done so much work since I last visited your channel. Thanks for sharing. We hope to visit Ajijic 2025 to possibly retire. Yes…2 more Gringos just what the locals don’t want, but we’re very respectful since we’re half Mexican.

Hey Jim. I think overall it’s a blessing when all the gringos come to Mexico. The only thing that I’m seeing in Ajijic is that some are being their sense of entitlement, it feels like in their minds they are saying to the Mexican people, you need us. It really sucks. I think it’s something the foreign community needs to work on. But overall it’s always nice for gringos to come to Mexico.

@@yeshuaismyredeemer yes, some need a lesson to respect culture. II see that happening in many places where they don’t immerse themselves into the culture and respect it. I saw an interview on another KZfaq channel in Guadalajara, where many of the locals are not liking the immigrant gringos and other immigrants coming to Mexico. They seem to say it’s changing and of course people hate change. By the way, how is the lake Chapala water levels. I saw another video recently 2024 of a gentleman talking about how low the lake has receded and how there is starting to be shortage of water in many neighborhoods. Do you seem to see that happening lately?

@@JimerBober69 I’ve been going to that lake for he last 45 years or so as much as I remember. I’ve seen it overflow and I’ve seen it really dry almost to the point that you could walk across towns on it. It’s a lake that depends on rain, so it will fill up and dry up, but only once the way I saw it dry. The others times it’s been the way you see it now, pretty low, but still a big lake. For sure we need the rain this year if it’s doesn’t rain the lake can be in a critical condition

How big is the parcel? (Sq. Meters or fractions of hectare, please). I fantasize about building my own house somewhere, but the truth is that I love the people on my street, my low rent, and not having homeowner headaches. I’ve lived in this working class colonia for over a dozen years and I’ve never felt this much apart of a community. I don’t want to give that up. That said, I had a huge yard when I lived in Los Angeles. I had a productive aguacate tree and a few fruit trees. I had a little vegetable garden and the yard was ringed with nopales. I miss the backyard, but I don’t miss constantly worrying about money.

Hola from the Westside (San Juan Cosala.) ;) Looks great! Beautiful yard. We have several lots going up on our street and tons of construction and boy, the rocks are HUGE! I'm guessing mine was very much the same back in the day. Must have been quite a big excavation job but well worth it to get a nice level lawn & yard! Are you in San Nicolas? Looks like you have tons of space around you. You're smart to wait and plan it out just right. Trees are good! It has been so hot the last month or so, I'm wishing I had more shade on my property. Enjoy!

I've been watching the progress of your home building. Great, really enjoy. Question: I'm thinking of moving to the Lake Chapala area. And considering ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos. Is your house near that area? I want a quieter area than Ajijic or Chapala, as my dogs don't like fireworks.
@yeshuaismyredeemer
@yeshuaismyredeemer 3 ай бұрын
Hello Tacayo. That’s what we call people in Mexico that have the same name 😊. My house is about 15 min away from ixtlahuacan. It’s a very nice city imo. Closer to the airport and much cheaper. But I have bad news. Almost every little town expects in the more city towns, have fireworks during the year. In ixlahuacan I believe they have two festivals, one for the the membeillos and one for church celebrations, of the ones I know of. But almost always they have fireworks

@@yeshuaismyredeemerIt is a lot quieter than Ajijic...less hustle and bustle. I've driven in the town in the daytime and at night. What I like is that it's very clean, nice paved streets and all the houses are painted the same.
