Update: Agreement reached w/governor 11 hours ago! Viva Oaxaca! Ok to go. You should not go to Oaxaca now. The Section 22 teachers union has closed down the airport twice in the last couple of wks & blocked access still - expected thru mid-June. Occupied zocalo. Taxi's Can drive a longer route/dirt roads to get to the airport, but basically one has to walk a distance w/luggage from the blockade point. Not a good time. Enjoy cdmx, it really is amazing. However, can't beat the food in Oaxaca...cdmx is worthy of 2 weeks to a month to explore.

I wouldnt go to Oaxaca. It is very far and there are many cities way much beautiful and closer to Mexico City. I am from mexico city and I recommend Querétaro, San Miguel de Allende or Puebla. These places are better than Oaxaca in any way

I dont think so, I think is better if you use the local transports. There are many options , uber, bus, taxi, metro, is not problem to move tl go another places.
