Travel in Mexico has led to the most questions about safety in Mexico, local food, transport around the country and so much. So we sat down to share our final thoughts and answer some questions...
⬇ More Below ✈ Our 220 page guide on how to travel non-stop - geni.us/9VHNx
We've never received so many questions, concerns and messages of support/advice while in a country - it's pretty clear travel in Mexico comes with some safety concerns. Beyond just concerns about travel safety in Mexico we also got loads of messages about how to travel around the country, the best modes of transport while in Mexico, about the food, beer, locations and more.
In this vlog we sat down to try and pay as much of that info forward as possible. If you're planning a vacation to Mexico you possibly have some of the same safety concerns and want to hear from some people that spent a few months there, or just some general tips and info for your own Mexican holiday.
What ever it may be, we hope this is helpful and interesting! Here's the playlist with all of our Mexican vlogs: bit.ly/2R71I4p

You guys went to the beaches and a big city. One part of Mexico you didn't visit yet were the Pueblo Magicos or "magical towns" which I think are the best parts of Mexico. Taxco is very close to Mexico City, Guanajuato a college town Pueblo Magico and San Miguel de Allende, beautiful but a little too touristy (but the food is amazing).

It's so great to hear such a positive review about a country that has been so maligned in North American news. I have never had anything but lovely and positive interactions with the Mexican people, so I hope more 'outsiders' will consider visiting this beautiful country more and more. Heaven knows, they deserve the boost to their economy, especially after all the bad press. Thank you!

Thank you for answering all of those questions! We're currently traveling through Mexico possibly for the whole year. Currently in Mexico City for the month and we are LOVING it here. Puerto Vallarta is pretty touristy, you won't be getting a very local experience there, but we absolutely loved Sayulita- about 45 minutes north of PV. It seems to have been "found" by tourists in the past couple of years, but everyone is so chill and walking around barefoot and inside restaurants in their bathing suits, with their well trained dogs just following them. Mexico City is definitely a local experience, luckily one of us speaks Spanish well enough to understand what is being said/ asked and enough to get us around and have a small conversation with people. Plus the FOOD here is unlike anywhere else in the world- it's incredible. It's the largest city in North America, so even the month we'll be here we will still only scrape the surface of everything this place has to offer.

It is really interesting to see how New Zealanders think about a country in opposition to Americans who have never traveled there because their government and the television makes them think not to do so.

@Craig 👆 perfect example of US citizens been doctrinated. They don't want to admit that they are the reason the cartels exist. No drug addicts, no cartels. Also, for some reason, they never want to talk about why the US has this drug culture, and why no one seems to do anything about it. Drugs and guns, great combination.

@Craig maybe the victims of the shootings in the last month in the USA can say the same isn't it? Eanch country has its bad stuff and the USA is not the best country to do judgments ok? P. D. I'm Mexican 34 years old and I'm alive predjuicious people usually says lots of bad things about us but we don't care we do the best and people are welcome to visiting us and see the "reality" you say is not the only reality of this country that has a lot to offer to the world if you are fed up because the guys of this video had a great time in this country I'm so sorry for you

@Craig that mormon community has been taking the locals water and takin their lands. They are also involved in shady bussiness. Cartels in mexico dont attack random people. Do more research and you will find why things happen. Dont just believe US media.
@ericktellez7632
@ericktellez7632 3 жыл бұрын
@Craig I hate justifying shit like this but i have to because of idiots like you, what people always avoid regarding news from Mexico is only reading headlines or watching the 2 to 3 mins reports of violence and murder but fail to realize that the vast majority of those victims are people working on opposing cartels. In the US, the deaths from firearms are separated into killings from firearms, suicide and mistakes/accidents, however if you add all of those under “firearm deaths” then the US has a higher rate of deaths per 100k than Mexico. If you separate the people who are killed but are part of cartels from geuine normal people being murder in Mexico, the murder rate falls dramatically, closer to the US’s right now. Still, fighting from cartels shouldnt even be a thing, but dont try and pretend that everyone is embroiled in this mess when that is not the case.

Pretty much sums up how we feel about Mexico too 😄 It's definitely one of our favourite countries hands down and we've been to about 50 countries as well. We know we'll always go back. 2 spots on that east side we can definitely recommend. Bacalar (2ish hours south of Tulum) ... such a great spot. Merida (Colonial city) is also great...it's west of Holbox. It's super colourful and very Spanish - Trevor

It is interesting to see people asking questions about being "scammed" when referencing those tourist areas in Mexico. If you were in Las Vegas, those "scams" would be considered "Tourist Taxes." Alternatively, things like charging someone $1,000 dollars for a bottle of Vodka that costs only 40 bucks. I mean, talk about a scam. lol Glad you two enjoyed Mexico though! I'm so glad that you loved Mexico, I think it's one of the most underrated travel destinations (for places other than all-inclusives). Between the food, culture and amazing natural beauty (beaches, mountains, etc) there are so many amazing places to visit and most are very budget friendly. Highly recommend Oaxaca (great place to base yourself for few weeks and settle in a bit) and some of the smaller villages around Puerto Vallarta!

It’s cool to see you guys had a great time, I live in the USA and I have plenty of friends from Mexico and they say how safe it is but the media up here definitely doesn’t point out the good parts and show it in the best light. It’s great to see videos like this or of parts of the Middle East etc Where the media always says it’s dangerous. And when the vloggers or people Go there you get to see the real side of it where the locals live and eat and it helps to show that people are pretty much the same all over the world even though we have different customs and traditions we all want the same things and even if you’re from different backgrounds you can still share a meal together

Excellent overview of Mexico. CDMX absolutely blew us away (loved your vlog) - Reforma/Condesa/Coyoacàn are must places to wander. Great way to start there is a tour of some kind like you did. We did a super bike tour which gave us the lay of the land fast. From now on, whenever we go back, we'll spend more time in CDMX. One of my favorite cities. Central Mexico is jaw dropping beautiful too. You can't go wrong in any Pueblo Magico, authentic and truly magical. And personally I prefer victoria beer 🍺!! Mexico has 121 Magic towns that have certain characteristics an unique things. As a Mexican when i go to Cancun, Playa Carmen and Tulum i never take Taxis, always rent a car is safer and way cheaper. If you go to Riviera Maya like a normal tourist rent a car if you go to get drunk take a taki. You guys should go to Los Cabos this place is the best in México. By the way i think you miss Parque La Mexican in the neighborhood Santa Fe Mexico City and the castle in Chapultepec forest.

You guys are great! Keep up the good work with your videos! I would personally avoid Tulum completely ,I thought it was too expensive, and too hype,.. yes its nice, but that's it. Anybody interested in something beautiful, calm and relaxing? Isla Holbox. Period. Something more upbeat and touristy ? Cancun and Playa Carmen, walk on 5ta Avenida, amazing shops, pubs/bars and restaurants , nightlife?... Don't miss out CocoBongo at Playa or Cancun, well worth the price of admission. If you're willing to drive 3 hours further south, go to Bacalar, truly amazing sweet water lakes, incredible. Drone flying here was no issues , hotel staff said to me: fly all you want. Take care guys! All the best!

Yes, I agree Oaxaca, Puerto Vallarta, Baja are cool low key places to relax and if you want to visit cities I'd say Guadalajara with its neighborhoods Zapopan and Tlaquepaque which are gorgeous, plus Querétaro and Mérida in Yucatán. Best big city . We are still in quarntine but soon I'm sure everything is back to normal. Stay in colonia Emiliano Zapata the "romantic zone" old town. I think it'll be you favorite place. I just ran across your channel. Thank you. I'll watch more I'm not a fan of Cancun or Tulum. Too touristy, but once had a great reef to snorkle on, but with the sargassum . I doubt that area will continue to grow, and it needs to recover actually. . Thank you

Let's be clear about something. By and large foreign tourists are not targets of kidnappings. The cartels will target other people associated with rival cartels-members, family of members etc.-not foreign tourists. It's not as if as soon as you step off the plane cartel members are gunning for you. Let's be clear about something else. Most of the cartel activity is taking place in NORTHERN MEXICO close to the border with the United States. The Mexican states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Tamaulipas, Sonora-which all border the U.S.-are prime areas of drug cartel activity. Why? Because that's where rival cartels fight each other over routes to smuggle drugs and people into the U.S. If you are a tourist flying in to Mexico City-which is in the interior far from the border-you'll be fine. If you're visiting Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, etc. You'll be fine. Use common sense. Don't go down dark streets at night. Stay in well light areas with other people and you will be just fine. And by the way-stop dressing up so touristy- you're making yourself a mark for locals who might try to take advantage of you. Besides you don't want to stick out like a sore thumb and look like a jackass in the process. Dress like other people in the area or at least wear something to look a little less conspicuous.
@Mickeytwit
@Mickeytwit 4 жыл бұрын
Lots of things make you look like a jackass. To hell if I'm going to wear jeans like the locals when I'm used to cold temperatures and am dying in the heat.
@tritosac
@tritosac 4 жыл бұрын
Well it's more than whether or not you wear jeans like the locals. It's also behavior. Many tourists are loud and obnoxious. They draw unnecessary attention to themselves. What I mean by being less conspicuous is not making it so obvious that you are a tourist which includes behavior, mannerisms, wearing clothes with big logos, flip flops in areas other than the beach, yoga pants, stupid looking big hats that really make you stick out like a sore thumb,, cargo pants, fanny packs-which usually are worn by fat people and look really gay. Try to blend in more instead of being so obvious.

Recommendations? .....let me think about it!...... Mmmmm. Is hard because of what Mexico can offered to a tourist is big!...... No this BIG! ......I. MEAN THIS B I G ! I'm going to put it this way! .....you just got from the market 6 watermelons and you like to eat all of them! Of course you have to peel, cut, serve and add lemon juice if you were Mexican! Eat everything clean up your mess and wash the dishes! If we translate to compare!........ Ready? ...im not going to said you just scratch one of those watermelons! The truth is you are just getting ready to go to the market to buy such a crazy treat! At the end you will be probably sick of watermelons and whatever else you get for eating that but one thing is for sure ! YOU NEVER GOING TO FORGET ABOUT THE FLAVOR OF MEXICO AND YOU MIGHT GET ADDICTED TO THE COUNTRY!...... yes to watermelons addiction too! Mmmmmm no body will develop that! ......and the bad news for your relatives gets out here! ........yes! You won't go back to them that easy!...... I have to tell you that many people visiting Mexico gets kidnapped!...... It is true!........ It gets kidnapped by the beauty of the country!.... You will be trapped into the culture!.... The food will be like chains Whit one end on your ankle and the other one to the heaviest iron ball!........ And you will get tortured by the people who are the best thing to make sure you stay and forgive about your past life! YES THATS THE REASON WHY PEOPLE DON'T MAKE IT BACK HOME!.... AND BELIEVE ME! AFTER SOME TIME WE TRIED TO KICK YOU OUT MEXICO EVEN DRAG YOU DOWN THE STREET BUT SOME HOW YOU WONT BE ABLE TO LIVE!
