Mexico-US border: Nearly 9,000 asylum seekers, migrants cross in 24 hours

Nearly 9,000 asylum seekers and migrants have crossed the United States-Mexico border in just 24 hours.
It is one of the highest rates of arrivals in the US in months.
The White House says it has sent 800 military personnel to help.
In Mexico, officials have used a range of tactics to stem the number of crossings, including shutting down railways in response to people who have died after falling off rail cars while trying to reach the border.
Al Jazeera’s Manuel Rapalo reports from Mexico City

Why are we allowing them in when you dont even know if their asylum application will be rejected? Its like hiring someone prior to getting their background check back. What happens when their application is rejected and all this money was already spent to house and feed them. Just seems very backwards. I personally find it interesting how kids have to be fully vaccinated for the safety of the public to attend school and these migrants dont. Teachers already feel overwhelmed. How are they going to deal with this influx and language barriers.They havent even done background checks on them at the border which they should have done before allowing them in. How we have spent millions of dollars on resources to help them but we cant help our vets or our homeless. How many other migrants have come with nothing and have had to pay for documentation and lawyers with money they earned from WORKING! While these people lay on the streets waiting for their hand outs of free housing, food and a monthly check. My other thing is, do you think it will raise the cost of rent once all these thousands of migrants leave the shelters?? More people, more demand for housing that isnt even really available.

They should declare Honduras a failed state and their president should strike a deal with the US for military intervention against the gangs there. Yeah we don’t want violence but the root of the problems stems from it. Wipe the gangs out, and help rebuild the nation and build up strong diplomatic relations with it and allow for American companies to work in a new market

I think it's funny when some of you say 'close the border' hah, that's impossible, the land is too vast, don't be Idi*ts, while they work on one part another part will be destroyed or just deteriorate. This is a bigger world issue that needs to be solved in a different way. Of course they don't want to stay in Mexico. Did some of you really think this country would stay a majority of a race.
