Yeah, because they set it up. The mob started burning ships,in order to get the government to seek out their help. So they weren’t really hero’s, but domestic enemies in a time of war, which is legally treason. Instead of making a deal with Luciano, then should have tortured him for information, and rounded everybody in the mob up, and hanged them.

And the CIA and Vatican joined forces with the mafia after the WW2 to form a stand behind army. CIA needed a way to fund it so they with the mafia started bringing heroin into the States intended for blacks in NY to start. The money was good and it was washed through Vatican banks. They split it 3 ways, the Pope for his work behind the iron curtain, the CIA for their army and the mafia…for whatever. I’ve seen pictures during the Afghan war of American soldiers protecting opium fields in Afghanistan.

Yes because there was a lot of sabotage going on at the Brooklyn Navy Yard and all the dock guys would not speak to the FBI, so the FBI made a deal with Luciano

Also, While Luciano was in prison, the government asked for his help to reach out to the mafia in Italy to assist with the invasion of Italy. The captains of the mafia in Italy were promised high ranking government position (mayors, etc) if they helped the US. That’s why Luciano was released from prison early, because of his help during WWII

My father saw him once by the beach promenade in Tel Aviv. If not for politics, he maybe would have been allowed to return, many people were not happy with the decision.

New subscriber after watching the mob show narrated by ray liotta (rip) about lucky, frank, Vito, lansky and bugsy, I stumbled on your channel and became obsessed with your stories, esp your comeback. As someone who is all Sicilian and whose pop pop and Nona came straight from Italy, hearing the war and horror stories, it’s so easy for people to judge peoples past, especially when you haven’t lived in that era. My pop pop was 1 of 17 and my nona 1 of 10. I guess esp back then Sicilians had pretty big families lol. Which made it all the more difficult to find a good paying job to support them and Unfortunately people turned to the streets. Keep telling your stories. They deserve to be told, history is so important and should never be silenced or erased. Your life truly deserves to be a Martin Scorsese film lol.

I read the book about it last year. I'm not Jewish but three of my best friends from childhood on were. I hate NAZI's or any racial superiority b.s...It happened in New York City, New Jersey, Los Angeles and I think Chicago. It was Jewish gangsters and boxers, they didn't get paid and a lot of them ended up in later life at a bad end. You can guess how. But in the moment? These bad guys, these boxers, these non-heroes were heroic and they had to be clever. One incident in New Jersey they had to climb up a ladder to get into the upper floor of an auditorium that the "bunt" was having their "rally." There were only like 10 Jews against a hundred NAZI's. What balls! 10 really tough Jews who kicked the shit out of those Basterds. They got no reward, no recognition, no reunion, no plaques or parade. But I gotta think that each one of them had to, just had to feel some pride, some kind of redemption for their actions. It wasn't choir boys who went to bat for Jews in America in 1938. Remember them.

I think you don't pay property tax if you are over 65 or older in NY. I guess you can start a LLC that manages & owns the rent producing house & a 65 year old that owns the LLC.

Really interesting Michael as I'm a 2-3rd generation Eastern European Jewess. My grandparents and great grandparents and other family members escaped from Czar and pogroms in the late 1800's to Ellis Island then NYC. Do you have anymore stories like this? In Bugsy, Benny wanted to whack Mussolini and Meyer said, Benny don't ever tell anyone this! I wonder if that was true?
