What's up Fellow Collectors!! Today we will be taking a look at the Mezco Toys Ultimate Godzilla! I had this on preorder since September 2021 and forgot about it. Well the time for forgetting is GONE because. Godzilla, the King of the Monsters, is here to rule over my collection! This figure is immense in detail and size, Gojira measures a full 3 feet from teeth to tail! Now that the King is home it's time to take an IN-DEPTH look at him. Is he worth thee price tag? Loved the review but Mezco is BUG-GING with a $450 price point. I thought this was going to basically be articulated almost like a giant Sigma figure. Love the look and functions but it’s worth $200-250 tops.

UPDATE!!!!!! Ok Correction. according to Mezco the Tail IS ARTICULATED. Just that the joint is super hard.

Good to know! My memory from the promo material was that the tail has an internal metal ball and socket frame for articulation like a stop motion puppet? Thanks for the review! I preordered this two years ago from BBTS - still waiting for mine to ship.

$450 is asking a lot. I feel by this price he could have some X-plus paint and sculpting or at least more than 15-25 points of articulation. Mezco and Super 7 I feel are the worst to have the Godzilla license because of how much they charge for their figures in general. Don’t get me wrong he’s a cool looking Goji but I’d say $150-$250 for him is fair

The actual figure turned out to be much better than on the pictures in my opinion. This is a great representation of the VS-Godzilla. They even got the quite gentle look on his face right, that you can see in "Godzilla Vs. Mecha-Godzilla".

They did. I must admit that I was a little worried how it will come out because Mezco has been very quiet with this figure since it was announced for preorder. Happy it came out good in the end.

Awesome Godzilla figure with so much detail. Its more for collectors to keep it on display. Heavy price on the figure. I am certain the price will be much higher when its no longer in stock. I myself have missed out on the big scale Godzilla when they were on preorder which topped at 500.00. Now they are being sold on Ebay for much more.

@@prockzilla4787 Once you showed the scale shot I was taken back I had no idea how big Godzilla was taller than 1/4 Hot Toy I believe. Looks amazing. One thing is I wish there was neck articulation however doesn't matter one one's handle includes ZILLA!

Pretty amazing! It appears that the light and back can't light up at the same time? That would be unfortunate for this price. Still an impressive figure for sure!

Maybe better off getting an XPlus Gigantic series Godzilla. Good looking figure but too static in its poseability which makes it take up too much realestate. Thanks for reviewing.

This was a great video. Question for you. I just received mine today (pre ordered two years ago). I love it but the sound/light activation is very tricky. I’m not sure if they are all like this? I have to smack the top of the head pretty hard, multiple times, before it activates. Sometimes I get sound only, sometimes light only (dorsal plates) and sometimes both together. Is this how yours works and does it take multiple head taps before it activates? Thanks very much!

UPDATE: I figured it out. The sensor that starts the light and sound is a little unusual in my experience. It is in the top of the head and not visible. To make it work dependably, at least on mine, you gently rub the top of the head like you are summoning a genie from a bottle. There are then several different combinations of lights and sound that will happen each time you rub the top of the head before the pattern repeats. Great figure!

I’d say this is a 9/10 for me. As you mentioned, I wish it had more articulation. A ball jointed head and neck (as well as added arm, feet, and leg articulation) would’ve been nice. But oddly enough, I actually feel to me like the tail actually needs to be a little bit longer, especially since the tail of the Heisei Godzilla was notoriously long in proportion to his overall body size. Regardless I’d love to have this someday!

Yeah more articulation would have been awesome but even without it this is still and awesome piece. Damn, I couldn't imagine a longer tail but I'd take it in a heart beat lol. Tbanks for the view and comment.

@@prockzilla4787No problem. Thanks for solidifying my decision to get one. It is a bit hard to picture it being any longer but if you go back and watch the Heisei movies you’ll see what I mean. But who knows, maybe it looks more proportional in person. Either way I think it’s an awesome figure. Although I’m actually surprised that it’s not Posable as they advertised it as being, especially since I recall seeing one on display at a Comic Con or Toy Fair with the last quarter or so of its tail bent towards the body in a U shape so it could fit on the display shelf.

It is posable, it was an error on my side. Mine felt too hard and was just nervous of braking it. I reached out to them to confirm and make sure I can get a replacement if I broke it. Bent the tail yesterday and it does pose. Just feel like you have to put alot of pressure on it and had me nervous.

@@prockzilla4787Just got mine for Christmas yesterday. I definitely retract my statement on the tail being too short. He’s far more proportional in person. Pictures and videos don’t really do him justice due to his size and overall length. I still wish he had a bit more articulation, but I’m still very happy with hom

You can move the right leg more forward but you have to articulate the knee and twist so the foot lays flat

My joints are super tight so I felt too much pressure when trying to do that so I was nervous to go more. This is good to know. I may try this later on. Thanks for the view and advice.

Arms are ball jointed. You can move them pretty far out……and also butterfly position Legs are difficult to articulate

Glad you like him, but he's not for me. I had Mattel's seamless Swamp Thing figure years ago and the skin started to detoriate in just over a year. And even when Figuarts has done rubber bits, they are usually pre-broken. The size is impressive as hell though.

I haven't had these issue yet with my collection except for my TBLeague Bloodshot. His armpits deteriorated and ripped a little. Hope this boy doesn't give me issues. Thanks for the comment and view!

Check out Hero Toys' Diablo, that's a great articulated figure. This Ultimate Godzilla is just a beautiful statue with gap in between joints.

I got this one too and i have to say i think its a great piece but it should have been like $350. I also have mezco ultimate kong and he was like $250. Kong is also a little bit bigger. Kong is an awesome figure too with amazing detail. Its great to have them side by side.Thanks for the great video. Appreciate it!

While I respect the material used for the tail to better emulate real feel, it's also kinda terrifying the thought it might degrade over time. This big boy ain't cheap! What do you think? Does it seem similar to the other figs with this problem?

I have some 1/6 scale figures either Hot Toys and TBLeague and yes they also can degrade over time but if not treated or taken care of. The main issue would be the humidity, which is why I wouod recommend a dehumidifier in the collection room. This specific skin on Godzilla feels a little different from what I have currently in other figures. So this is a good question and worry. For me I plan to maintain it the same as my other figures and go from there. That is one reason I wouldn't recommend bending the tail and posing it too arched due to pressure being placed on that skin and possibly tear over time if left that way. I will keep you posted but mine is staying with the tail straight and semi bent at the tip.

I use a vinyl rubber and plastic protector wipes you use for car interiors on my figures. It protects from sun exposure if you have a lot of light in your room.

I thought so to much it was giving me a lot of tension so I was worried I'd break it or thee light up function. I may each out to Mezco to see if they can confirm this. I went bac and looked at all thee Promo pics they posted for him and all had the tail in the same position.

@@prockzilla4787 I don’t remember if it was in comic con or the promo pics but it had an s curve instead of the normal upward bow. Plus mine was crooked out of the box so I just assumed it could be. Straightened and I did. You can feel the rubber (or silicon) twist around a central point like a wire or set of joints. Likely a wire like the alien tail from the one:12 line

I really wanted this figure, but $400 is just too much. I don't know wht Godzilla merch is so overpriced. It shouldn't be so hard to get a well detailed Godzilla figure that stands like 12" tall for $150 or less.

I know there's a lot of speculation on whether or not the rubber tail will deteriorate, but it really does depend on the type of rubber used. I have an original red Jurassic Park tyrannosaurus that's over 20 years old and it is in absolute perfect condition. I also have some burago 1:18 scale diecast cars with rubber tires that are still absolutely perfect. Let's hope this company followed along the same lines and used a quality rubber and did not do what Boglins did in the 80's . But also don't go bending the tail too much because the outer small dorsal plates are painted, and regardless of the material paint does not stick that great to rubber, so don't poke the bear. Lol

yeah i still had that t-rex until a couple years ago when i ebayed it. the rubber was as good as ever aside from some minor creasing from improper storage for years.dino roar was still working. the dude i sold it to was so excited.

Can't, I don't even use a mic. Also the portion of the review at my bar was last minute due to him not fitting in my light box. I just needed to get the review done, as I already spent 2 days on it. But thanks for the tip

I’m really disappointed I spent I think it was over $400 on this and a transformers. Titan was bigger than him and cheaper I put up a video. I was very disappointed it feels cheaply made and if I had a time machine I would not have bought it.

I dont collect mezco becuz its too long of a wait ,overpriced and they steal your deposit if you dont pay immediately once it does drop out of nowhere . And no i wont pay $500 for a godzilla statue thats ridiculous .
