Thanks Mike, I’ve learnt a bit more about this fascinating car. Your vids are starting to form a very good reference manual for the MG, so keep em coming. Keep well and safe 👍

Until I watched your video about MG Pilot I hadn't properly understood what it was..I used it extensively coming home from Nottingham, and it made the journey very relaxed, I set the speed to 65 so I didn't have to overtake much and optimise efficiency a bit, was great!

Great summary, Mike. The differences between these different acronyms was definitely confusing though once you start to use them you start to realise the differences. This is very helpful for those with no hands-on experience of them.

Hi Mike. Thanks for vid. Hope you are recovering well. I like to drive in MG Pilot and adjust speed up and down on stick to have a comfortable distance if car in front is slow, so pilot not speeding up and slowing all time, because it is surprising how some drivers in front of you fluctuate their speed so much. I find I can relax on steering a bit. Keep safe.

Thanks Mike a good video, I have thumbed up and subscribed. Can't wait to collect my ZS EV this week. Regarding the maximum automatic distance, it appears to be about a 2 seconds gap, does this stay the same at higher speeds, in other words the physical distance should increase? I agree with you that the time gap should be increased up to 4 seconds for a more relaxed and potentially safer drive. Turning off Lane assist sounds like a good idea. Hope you beat the waterworks problem God willing, very brave and useful of you to share with us.

Good Video as usual. I’ve got a slight ‘problem’, I rarely Drive above 55 but if I do I am aware of a Wind noise, like poor fitting Door Seals? Is this normal, is it Door Seals or am I expecting too much due to the newly experienced quietness of being in the Car, after having an ICE all my life? One amusing happening recently, a ‘Boy Racer’ came up alongside me, on a Motorway, revving his Engine noisily, challenging me, I assumed, to a ‘Drag Race (?)’, would you believe it? Had I been in a Tesla E Series I might have been tempted, even at my age? Would I have left him behind from Traffic Lights in the MG, I might have given him a surprise at least!!! Great Video, I am very old with not a bad memory but how I’d like to have you alongside me while I get used to all the Car’s Benefits, which don’t come immediately to mind while trying to Drive safely.

Does 2 pulls active both MG Pilot and ACC ? We’re about to pick up ours Wednesday and I have the impression it’s more confusing than it could be. Like our Tesla I suspect we’ll just use autopilot.

I assume that, as with other makes of car, the lane departure alert doesn’t bong at you if you’re indicating right?
@JohnDoe-bd5sz3 жыл бұрын
2 second rule is because you need to be able to react and reduce the speed, the human "processor" is not able to do this safely with less than 2 seconds in between. The ACC can react and apply the right amount of braking almost instantly, this is the reason you don't really need the 2 seconds anymore.

@peterthomson1272 жыл бұрын
Does the ACC gap vary with speed at all? You comment that it is too close for you, less than two seconds (as you adn I both were trained) but when I watch your video it does look pretty much like a two-second gap, certainly at 40 mph. E.G., at 21:53 the car in front passes over a bus stop sign, I count by saying, "a thousand and one, a thousand and two" (my method!) before your car passes over it, so seems ok.

Can you counter the automatic steering to overtake a cyclist or pass a parked car? Or do you need to disengage the feature?

Thanks Mike. Would you explain the difference between The Auto Hold Brake Switch and the normal parking Brake Switch, and when to use them properly, as I drive mainly in town is it acceptable to have the Auto hold switch turned on all the time . Only picked car up four days ago. Cheers.
@r33gts4 жыл бұрын
Auto hold can be left on, I do. It does what it says, once you stop and press hard enough on brake pedal, it will hold still until you touch accelerator pedal, at which point it will release brakes and start to move.

Please how do I turn off lane assist- it drives me nuts?
@davidpearn59254 жыл бұрын
We are looking forward to it’s arrival in Australia. Apparently the regen doesn’t work in acc/Pilot mode. I wonder if that might be fixed by an OTA update or would that require a hardware mod.
@MikeProcter14 жыл бұрын
It will be worth the wait. OTA not available to MG. it’s a dealer visit to update any software in the car.

Anyone else found when using ACC and going round a bendy lane you lose power and when past the bendy part it goes back to speed set?

Yes

@barryhaeger42844 жыл бұрын
Yep it certainly does that - rather good but not perfect. I can understand why though as other CC I've used when they just try to maintain speed increase power because as yu turn into a corner you would naturally scrub off a little speed. I find the MG system decreases the power a little late to optimise control. I really you would if driving manually back off the power as you begin the corner and then power through the corner. However since the MG ACC doesn't use any KERS, the car actually cuts back the power to allow the car to coast mid-bend and then applies a little friction braking if it still thinks you're too fast for the tightness of the corner - not a great receipt for best vehicle control IMHO. I'd like to see KERS retained at the same level you would select when driving without ACC and the algorithm revised to that of best practice driving normally. I realise that this might be a tough call unless the ACC were to be using accurate GPS mapping data to know where the road is going and how tight a bend/curve is.

Do you still lose the speed display on the dash? That was why I turned departure alert off on my the day after I picked it up. It was so annoying having to flick back to the speed display every couple of minutes. Not the best feature IMO.
@MikeProcter14 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately yes. You switch to digital speed and when you change lanes or it loses them and finds them again it reverts back to the ACC/MG Pilot/LKA screen.

LKA, LDW and MG Pilot, can't you use all?

To be honest, I couldn't give a damn about this kind of tech, on motorways probably more useful, but on ordinary roads no, I would rather trust my own built in computer, better known as the brain 😁 plus I actually enjoy driving, so having a buzzer and having all these beeps and steering corrections, would be so unnerving, and wouldn't be able to relax, anxiety levels would far out way any advantages ! so therefor I will stick to my good old Brain cells 👍

Your spelling and punctuation leave something to be desired, but I absolutely agree with you. I am certainly considering one of these, but I cannot see myself using this tech for exactly the reasons you espouse.

Is it worth buying a type 2 cable? Does anyone use it very much?
@MikeProcter14 жыл бұрын
It depends. If you only ever charge at home, then maybe not, but if there is ever a possibility that you may need to charge away from home- we stayed at a hotel with a 7kW charger, so used our cable to charge up overnight.
