How to replace the front lower suspension arm bushes on a MG3. A common MOT failure point on these as the original bushes never lasted long. The new ones are modified apparently, time will tell.

That’s got to be the easiest to change wishbone bush I’ve ever seen😮!

Another great vid Steve - I’m pleasantly surprised these days how competitive the dealers are becoming for parts 👍🏻

They're not all cheap. Mitsubishi and Ssangyong parts prices are an absolute joke.

Great video mate, very helpful. My mg dealer have just tried to make me but 2 whole new wishbones at £400+ .. its only the bush that needs doing and they even wrote it on the service sheet! Do you know if 2014 models had the 4.6mm or 6mm variation of clutch slave cylinder? My one squeeks sometimes! And are they easy to replace? Cheers..

No idea, if the chassis number is put into the mg parts catalogue it should say which one you need.

Another great vid. Cheers Steve. I always wonder if these 'fast fit' type places pre-load the bushes when installing. As you say, it's very important to ensure the bushes don't destroy themselves when the weight of the car gets put on them. Thanks again 👍

I've seen loads of failed bushes where they've been tightend with the suspension hanging. You'll be surprised how many people don't load the suspension up first.

Excellent, I have bushes to replace on mine. Going to have to be done on drive. Best place to lift front on trolley jack? I have got axle stands. TIA

Jack and support it on the lip of the sill or on the subframe.

Thanks for all advice. Easy DIY, I was surprised. Just need correct bushes.... first ones I had were cheap Chinese knock offs I think, 100 grams lighter than genuine! Got genuine from Cambridge MG and went in a dream. Keep up the good work.
@pistonbroke2 жыл бұрын
Not worth buying knock offs when the genuine ones are only about £15 each.

@@pistonbroke hind sight 😉 is a wonderfull thing. Strangely I have compared the bush I removed and it is identical to knock off which makes me think it may have been replaced prior to my ownership.

I've got a 63 plate, and it's making some sort of knocking noise. It's not the engine, it's had its chain done, bottom arms have been replaced just over a year ago, droplinks just been replaced. It's only done 24k miles, and it's really starting to annoy me. The springs look good, just wondering if it's the dampers.

It might be. I've replaced the shocks on a few MG GS's for knocking noises. Never had to change any on a 3 though.

Makes me wonder how long the pressed tin arm will last if you can drive the bush sleeve out with a screw-driver.?
@pistonbroke3 жыл бұрын
It's quite a tight fit but once the middle is out, the sleeve comes out easy.

i would have cleaned the arm and painted it with anti rust and changed the other bush
@pistonbroke2 жыл бұрын
I didn't have time to faf about with paint and the other bush is fine so no need to change it.
