There's a cool detail in this scene at 5:18: In the game's trial, which is a playable demo, Major Zero says that it would be the first time the Fulton air-recovery system would be used in combat. In this final version, it changes to say that the system has been combat proven.

Ironically the world’s first HALO jump into a combat zone was actually done around the era this game is based in, by someone who very truly could’ve been the real Big Boss, a man named Billy Waugh. Fought in every single US war since Korea. And yes he did deploy to Afghanistan in 2001, turned 72 while in Tora Bora.

I can never get over how good of an intro that is. Every little bit, from the lighting, the sunrise, the planes engine and rotors, the great voice acting, the SCORE and the way it sincs up perfectly with every tiny thing! Absolutely incredible cutscene, I never skip this and I get goosebumps and flashbacks from just hearing the song

Normal soldiers need to breathe pure oxigen for at least 20 minutes and then perform the halo jump. From that perspective you can tell how awesome Big Boss is.

Mr. Popo Mgs V is shit. it cant Halo jump Hunt Heal Broken bones Brake your bones Doesn't have a stamina bar can recharge your stamina bar with the things you hunt.... because it doesn't have hunting or a stamina bar, or any survival elements.

David A. Lozano it does have broken bones and healing broken bones, it has a stamina but there isn't a bar that shows up, snake just starts breathing heavily

Still one of best master pieces Kojima ever produced and pretty much will be remembered forever by Generation x and new folks alike especially for its graphics and sound a true power house of a game! I hope to see more games like this in the future if possible a must share for all Metal Gear solid fans!

UrbanintrospectionYT oh yeah for sure, the gameplay is super fun. But the plot was really lackluster sadly, especially for a metal gear game. And making it open world was a mistake IMO. Metal gear needs well designed levels that give you freedom on how to approach. The open world just feels too empty and poorly designed.

Wow, I just realized something, they said they don't give him weapons so it couldn't be tracked back to the US, but his helmet says US army on it 😅, simple mistake tho

He ditches the helmet and other gear in the dense forest. The chance that it'd be discovered is basically zero. On the other hand, he could be caught with a weapon. But, yes, it's still a bit silly.

Pretty convincing isn't it? They are just a bunch of very well done shape transformations, possibly created using a cloth simulation and then baked, and applied as vertex transformations on top of other vertex transformations (such as the skeletal animations) during the vertex preprocessing step (what you'd call a vertex shader today).

The 1960,s was the worst years of the cold war because both USSR and US were in the brink of anihilation ( cuban missile crisis, u2 shot down, american nuclear missiles in turkey ).
