You're right! I've been trying sacred sheath with the spirit roundslash and it's sooo smooth on the follow up for both the combo attack itself as well as the counter.

The level doesn't matter btw You can input spirit combo after any of the 3 levels but the lower the level the further away you will be from doing the final hit of spirit combo or spirit reckoning combo.

The guard point is actually pretty reliable once you get used to the timing window, you have to delay when to actually sheath if you want to use it against attacks with late telegraphs or delay

It's only a debuff for the counter, because you don't take as long to sheath the weapon, the guard point itself doesn't change

Yes, you have a shorter window to use the counter/guard point HOWEVER you get to the charging much faster which is useful specifically because the full combo takes an extremely long time to complete

There is no hyper armor in the sheath stance, only when you attack. That was a specific Malzeno attack that does not stagger or knock back, plenty of monster have "chipping" attacks that are similar

@@gabrielpaixao9393 To be fair, it consumes all 3 spirit gauge levels, which take far longer than a TCS to charge up. I'm really interested to see how the new Surge Slash GS combo compares to this dps-wise tho, especially for elemental builds. been wanting elemental GS to be viable for so long.

possibly, tho the other weapons I main are CB, Bow, and GL. so probably not sns and lance if I do a detailed breakdown of the new switch skills :p

can't confirm that yet but I'll definitely be testing that once sunbreak is fully released! It might become similar to bow where taking evade extender 1 is substantially helpful for this move

yes, you lose the ability to guardpoint/counter once the animation for sheathing is complete and you see the flash of light. The hyper armor lets you punch throw an enemy attack without getting staggered (you'll take damage, but there is some damage reduction)

The counter you're talking about is discussed and shown in the video. It happens when you release the input before the sword is fully in the sheathe.

@@frescopino7866 no, that is not the same counter. The move has 3 counters. It has the autoevade counter that does 26 MV if you don't press anything and get attacked while sheathing, you have a GP that does 28 MV if you release the input while sheathing, and then in the MV doc is another move called charged sacred sheathe iai_level 0 (first hit) that does 55 MV. It's the level 0 I'm curious about and heard it is also a counter. I think it's only useable if you fully sheathe with no spirit levels but I'm not sure. Unless I missed something, it's not in the video (or any other video).

yes, for demonstration purposes I play with QS 3 which is what every LS player should use still when Sunbreak comes out

I think both sheathes compliment eachother. ISS is quicker, snappier, safer, better to level up your spirit gauge. You can Sakura slash> ISS the Monsters shout> Sakura slash for insanely fast and easy red gauge. Then you swap to sacred sheathe to unload your gauge. The counter on sacred sheathe is hard to pull off, and if you miss it you go down a spirit level. Unless you are an insanely good speedrunner, ISS still has a spot in the meta IMO.

@@pipaloire Agreed, SSC has a much higher learning curve to use compared to the ISS. It might actually end up better if you play 100% optimally, but it's SO much harder to use effectively. Missing the guardpoint means you will lose a spirit level and missing the attack/whiffing on the weak spot means you wasted all of your spirit levels. We'll see when sunbreak comes out but I think it'll be dependent on preference! You either git gud with Harvest moon ISS/helmbreaker or git gud with this new move

Sacred sheath has bugged audio since it's not officially released in the demo

lots of hidden skills in the demo either dont have sound effect or even some got no names at all

As it has been stated, sacred sheath is only accessible in the demo if you use cheat engine to enable the non released switch skills. Once it comes out in sunbreak, it will be a switch skill replacing the special sheath. You'll be able to activate it using the normal sheathing input (RT+A)

I call it a guardpoint to differentiate it between the counter, so I'm doubtful if it'll actually work with offensive guard because LS doesn't have a block function. Though I might test that out once Sunbreak comes out!

it's very short, which is why you use the dash and the hyper armor to either reposition or hit them while they're hitting you

RT, use the normal input to go into sheathing stance (RT+A) and don't let go of the right trigger.

I use switch pro controller for MH, so unfortunately I don't know the controls for that but Sacred Sheath will be the same input as sheathing stance which you use before you can use the usual iai spirit slash

I'm currently messing with builds, but I'll be making a video on LS progression and endgame builds soon! Still trying to see if bloodlust/dereliction/mail of hellfire are worth having 1 point and then maximizing resentment or coalescence and then crit for max damage output. For special sheath, which I assume you mean Iai Spirit Slash counter spam, elemental weapons are priority and you can get by using a simple set such as lunagaron head, barioth chest, malzeno or barioth gloves, rathalos waist, and ingot greaves. Talisman would need to have at least two 2 slots and offensive skills or quick sheathe, you can slot in everything else up to atk boost 4, crit boost 3, weakness exploit 3, wirebug whisperer 3, etc. Crit draw and maximum might also work well with LS to give you bonus affinity and save slots if expert is taking too much space

considering how you need 3 levels of spirit gauge everytime you want to use this attack, the damage potential might be higher but to have consistent DPS will take a lot more skill. Seeing how GS can in get to the true charge a lot easier I don't think it'll be blatantly better

Same input as for Special Sheathe (ZR+B). Have Special Sheathe in Red Scroll and Sacred Sheathe in Blue Scroll.

No, you are vulnerable once the sheathing animation is complete and you see the white flash of light. Which is precisely why the hyper armor during the attack animation is super useful, you can time it when you get hit to still get the damage off!

having you seen GS or HBG? You don't see LS pulling sub 1-2' runs as easily as those weapons are xD LS got nerfed pretty hard with the expansion, even with it's new tools it's decent in skilled hands but not as strong as other weapons that got buffed (CB/SA/GS are insane rn)

Late comment but you unlock it automatically by playing through Sunbreaks Story.

Craptons, I'm having an easy time countering with them. Even if you miss it will consume 1 spirit level to autoevade the damage.

It does bring you all the way down to 0 spirit levels though, so they can't spam it nearly as much as soaring kick

the existence of sakura slash that ups your spirit level for a moderate wirebug cost, as well as this new valor-like counter seems to make building spirit gauge very easy. not to mention that you're doing a lot of damage while building up spirit gauge up in the first place thanks to sakura slashes pretty high damage output and the high damage of the spirit combo

LS actually got nerfed pretty hard on the Iai Spirit Slash (50% less damage) and Helmbreaker (30% cd increase), so it's a lot higher skill cap now to get the same damage as before. so it might be broken but it also might become pretty balanced once sunbreak comes out
