This is the map of Germany, including Austria to the right. The top in red is todays Niedersachsen (With Hamburg, Hannover, Bremen etc.. It also has parts of Luxemburg etc. It is a mix of sevral countries around Germany and the three main parts of the map are todays Germany.

This is absolutly a Map of Germany. Wallenstein was a famous General in the 30th Year War 1618-1648. At this time, Österreich (Austria) was a very important part of Germany. The Germany Kaiser (Emperor) was from Austria! Austria was part of Germany until 1871. And still after that, most of the People of Austria thought of themselfs as Germans. Even after the lost first World War (1918), Austria - now stripped to it's size today - wanted to be united with Germany.

Looks like a great game. If I had like-minded people to play with... Maybe one day! The cube tower is really cool and an interesting way of resolving a combat.

Interesting mechanic with the cube tower, although a little chaotic in my opinion, a small kick to the table can change the outcome.

Er hatte keine überlebenden männlichen Kinder, das heißt wenn er dein Vorfahre wäher würdest du nicht Waldtstein heißen. And If you are a english Waldstein you're probably not even related to him

Well, it still is a map of Germany during the 17th century (I believe). The part of the map that is labeled Austria extends mostly over territory that is not part of Austria today. For geographic reference saying it's a map of Germany is pretty accurate.

Osterreich means Austria, yes... And Sachsen means Saxony etc. etc. It's a map of Germany. Austria through most of history was part of "the Germanies". Perhaps you've not heard of the Holy Roman Empire?

Hi Tom & Sam. I got this big box for my son & I (2 players) because the box says 2-5 players. However the rules only seems to allow for 3+ players. Is there a way to make this a 2 player game or should I be asking Queen games to send me a 2 player game to make up for their mistake on the box (only reason I ordered it for Christmas was because it was suppose to work as 2 player)? Thanks for your time. Stacy. The Dice Tower

stacy2146 Even though the rule book seems to imply that there needs to be at least 3 players, it can work with 2 players. Hope you already figured that out. Cheers.

No I hadn't figured it out yet, because we haven't tried to play yet :) So thanks. Now I can go ahead with 2 players with confidence, knowing that it will work. Christian Mitchell

Old post, but this is for anyone watching this video... Shogun is quite honestly the better of the two, tighter map and all. The other two Dice Tower hosts (and pretty much everyone Tom comes across) always make fun of him for preferring the Germany map, haha. I personally prefer the art of Shogun, too. The map certainly looks coloured better and the overall appearance is slightly more minimalist but sleeker (like old Japanese art, think 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa').

i don't like the design of the map, looks ugly (too much text everywhere, cannot be read easily from all 4 sides, colors are boring, etc), compare with the "Andean Abyss" MAP for instance, you'll see what I mean. The prettyness of a boardgame is very important too, a game CANNOT score high with great rules but 5/10 board/pieces. There are many other nicer looking (some with better rules) out there.
@EarnestWilliamsGeofferic
@EarnestWilliamsGeofferic 10 жыл бұрын
That's such a bizarre opinion. The map is really nice. Reading the map from all four sides is quite easy. (???) The very idea that the prettiness of the game is equal in importance to the mechanics is ... nuts. That's completely backwards. And you definitely will not find many games that have better rules.
