The Miami Heat have not made a lot of moves this NBA Offseason. Through two weeks of NBA Free Agency, the Heat have: extended Bam Adebayo, re-signed Kevin Love, re-signed Thomas Bryant, re-signed Haywood Highsmith, and signed Alec Burks! This has left Heat fans wondering if Pat Riley has a plan to upgrade the Miami Heat roster. The Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson released an article sharing what the Heat’s plan may be for the rest of the NBA Offseason. Nic Rohloff reacts to the report from Barry Jackson and if the Heat’s plan is a good one!

Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson on the Miami Heat:
“The plan now is for patience and prudence, to wait for an opportunity to pounce when a player the Heat really likes becomes available in the trade market, with the hope that the other team likes Miami’s assets. The Heat does not look at this as a situation where it absolutely must change its roster by the start of the season. While the Heat would like to upgrade, the Heat sees that opportunity being available all the way up until the Feb. 6 trade deadline. That’s how it’s being viewed internally.”

So fans want to see a trade just to see a trade. First teams only trade pieces that are not valuable, or they trade their value for something more valuable. Laurie did not make the bulls better. He went to utah and they proceeded to not matter. So you want to trade young and useful pieces or picks for a player who will not make a difference cause he has not made a difference. The best bet for miami is get in position for a big asset like booker next year in free agency. Or make deals for young talent in smaller roles like Herbert jones or cole anthony, and let them shine in miami.

The best thing they can do is wait for a player they love than to get ripped off for a player they like. If your impatient bad things happen. They take their swings so its just a matter of time that they'll get their whale. It may not be splashy but the Heat should lean more on their draft picks since they've gotten better at player development. It's far more rewarding anyway to see your team grow organically than to hire a mercenary. This statement gives me relief that the front office isn't pressured into making bad moves for the sake of instant gratification. Everyone should be thinking about the chess moves to build a dynasty instead of a short window with no draft picks to look forward too and then all the complaining to double down even more.

Rebuild should be the heats plan A. They’re always lazy in free agency and then have to hurry to get something together mid season and it blows up in our face. Kinda like the oladipo mid season trade and the rozier trade. The heat end up getting the runt of the litter because all the great options are off the table. Trade jimmy for younger players and assets

idk man all these videos about derozan, ingram, and now lauri Markkanen none of these trades If im the other team (heat lack assets) or player I would do (heat dont offer a large enough contract), I rather focus on realistic options. For the hawks, Trae young seems like hawks will ride it out and if his value can either rebound or they can build around just him. deandre hunter heat would just be trading one iffy contract in herro for his, capela is too old and doesnt really fit. Only distress asset that is both a fit and his value has tanked is vuvevic, and maybe they already explored it and the contract is too much to swallow but thats the only starter type player that I see that both the heat can have fit/ value from and the other team is willing to give up for cheap assets that the heat can afford to give. Rest of the players out there their current teams want more than the heat have. Otherwise the heat are just gonna run it back with the same team that fell apart and didnt fit together last year, other heat podcasts say rozier was their big move last and this offseason and that it was wanted by the org and fans but the rozier trade never made sense to me, hes a scoring guard with the same trigger and efficiency of herro so u basically traded for a 2nd herro which imo gave me ?? all day long. rozier was on a bad team and he had plenty of opportunities to shoot, his stats had 1 good game and 1 bad game which continued on the heat and was the same pattern as herro. one really good game and then 1-2 subpar games.

I’ll tell ya what, that Cooper Flagg is totally worth tanking for. My God. I’m sick of this line of thinking. Half these guys you HAVE to Jimmy for because they’re on second apron teams, like KD and KAT, and I don’t consider them than Jimmy. Kawhi is, but he’s always hurt. Lauri is not worth trading Jovic for, and I hope we do go into the season before any trades so that he can prove it. All we gotta do is get Ware ready to start. If we trade it should be Tyler for an expiring contract, ranging from a good player like Bruce Brown to garbage that will simply get the money off the books. I think the buy out market will be particularly good this year with the CBA crushing everyone. If not, get the most you can out of a Jimmy trade and tank for a lottery pick.
