Great video! No background music, no fluff, just pure content. With this diff being so small, how come modern cars still use regular open diff? Wouldn't this be superior for every car?

Are the middle bronze washers in the right positions? There are opposites in my differential, the smoothes faces are in touch

I do not have any experiencie driving with automatic lockers, but LSD seems more smooth than automatic ones

if I use lubricant the table will get dirty. It's just a demo video :)

@@cars_otr yeah I was curios about it when I bought mine. Since it was used I was kinda curious but didn't find any. At least the seller told me the car had low milage (like less than 50k) it was from a 10ae miata so I kinda believe it

There are no clutches in this differential folks you just saw it with your own eyes it’s fully mechanical.

@@Baker_7498 there are actually 5. Two on the outside. Two in the middle. One in the stack up of washers is a bronze washer that’s a clutch washer.

Most of the force is taken by worm gears being hard to run backwards but there are multiple friction surfaces to make sure that running worm gear-like parts backwards is hard enough and results in enough torque to the wheel with more traction.
