@@AbesamisM Crosby started a year after Ovi and missed over 200 games due to injury and STILL beat Ovi to 1000 points 🤔 has over 50 more 2+ point games than Ovi also. Crosby likes to set his teammates up and isn't a puck hog haha plus he's an all around player, not just a shooter, the all around players is what every coach out there wants and is looking for, so... Crosby won 3 Stanley Cups and been to 4, there's your other main difference.

To put this milestone in perspective, to reach this mark in the fastest possible time, a player would have to score a goal, in every single game, without missing any, for more than 6 seasons. The average NHL career is 5 years. There’s a reason only 45 others have done it in all of NHL history. Congrats Sid!! The only thing that could ever beat this would be winning the Stanley Cup on home ice.

aye and combine that with how many games he has missed due to injuries..remarkable unselfish player with the best all around game ever IMO..we're lucky to be able to be Penguins fans instead of watching Ovi doing slappers and one timers at a furious pace and little else whilst standing on his spot and being on the ice for the whole 2 minute power play

Players can score more than one goal in a game so that’s not really the fastest possible time. Regardless, this is a huge and wonderful accomplishment.

@@ssolnick You’d have a viable point if there were any player who has scored a goal, in every single game of an entire season, let alone 6 of them, consecutively. Perhaps I should have said an average of 1 goal per game, every game, for 6 full seasons. I’m not in the mood to go looking up records, but I believe the single-game record number of goals by 1 player, in 1 game, is 7. I’m only aware of that because I was at a game where I watched Mario Lemieux do it. Your point is as valid as saying somebody could get 7 goals, in every game. Then they’d break this mark in just a bit more that 1 season. It just isn’t going to happen, unless something like drastic rule changes or superhuman happens. I suppose that just because no one has ever done that doesn’t mean that no one ever will, someday. I’m not betting on it. Also, my calculation was based on an 80 game season, not 82 or even from earlier years when the seasons were fewer games. In the early 1970s, NHL teams played a 40 game season, which would double the time it would take to achieve. Maybe if we put Sid against a team playing at the Squirts level, maybe he could get his next 500 in 1 game.

Ovey has put up more points, but I stil lthink Sid is the best overall player. Ovey doesnt like to play defense. Still, Sid seems to be a pretty humble guy and Ovey cant keep his ego in check.

Soooo …. Guys. His boss Mario happened to score like 600 something goals. Sidney could could triple number on the stats by the time he change his mind to become baseball player, then !?
