The elastic bands on my mic shock mount have gotten loose. So I ordered a "universal replacement" set of two on Amazon and here is how it turned out.

I just bought 10 bands identical to what came with my shock mount and what is selling for around 10 bucks on-line for 1 buck at a Dollar Store. Hooked it up and it works exactly like the original bands. Perfect when you pay 10 bucks you get either only 2 or possibly 4 pieces. Place the unused extras in an air tight plastic bag or some other container and they should last longer than when exposed to air. I might put the entire shock mount into a plastic bag if I know I'm not going to be using it for a while. In any case THANKS a lot for your video.

Just got back from Dollar Tree and the hair elastics work perfectly - 6 for a dollar.

How about keeping the shorter band on the bottom, as you have it, but using the longer band on top. I did that and it has a good amount of tightness...but not too much...just right.

Glad to be of help. It's kind of a "cat's cradle" type of puzzle! Lol

Should not have taken the old bottom band off until the new one on top was completely threaded in place. Otherwise your video is helpful. The larger bands would not have worked. The old ones have stretched because the rubber degrades due to sulfur in the air, so then it is only the cotton (?) outer casing that helps keep the band in place - and the material stretches. Hence the longer diameter than the new smaller bands. However, as others have pointed out instead of paying $8 -10 plus shipping for elastic bands, go to a Dollar store and pick up some elastic bands (more than 2 pieces) for pony tails etc. Thanks !

What brand of shock mount do you have? I found the mount at a thrift store and there is no branding on it. Yours look exactly like the one I have

Mine came with my Condenser Mic. But the basic design is common among many shock mounts.
