Hey Gerry, I know this video has been around for some time so I'm not sure whether you will still react to comments. As I said below, your tips & inspirations for using "Mica powders" are impressive! Just one thing - the topic of having to set Mica powders: You are using the term Mica Powders for brands that come papercraft-ready. Mica are really the pigments only, gum arabicum or some other agent needs to be added to make that sticky. With items from the pixie or nuvo range and others geared directly at paper crafters this has already been done. When you buy "pure" mica (as from Arteza or other companies, often advertised for resin coloring), you will get nothing of the sort, it's the untreated pigment. You can use those just like you demonstrated in your videos, but all creations will need to be fixated (where hairspray is my no. 1 solution). Alternatively, you can mix those pure mica powders with gum arabicum 1:4 - then you have to store it somehow, etc. etc. no end of challenges.

thanks Stefanie, I have only used the Cosmic Shimmer and Nuvo, so the "papercraft kind", I understood that Mica is the shiny part in the powder mixed with colour pigments. Thanks for the info on other powders💖

There are a lot of tutorials around showing how to use expensive pre-mixed mica liquids for card making but this is the first I've seen for using the actual powders, which have been gathering dust. I love the info, and especially the ways to fix the powder. I remember that someone mentioned a cheap brand of local hairspray that works well - so I need to have that in my stash now, too. Thank you so much for inspiring us again.

The technique I liked the best was making the nubby-looking centers using mica colored salt to make the flower centers! Thank you for sharing all of these techniques with us!

Thank you so much for all these wonderful tips on using mica powders, I just purchased a big set of Arteza mica powders and have been looking for ideas on how to use them and this gave me a lot to work with 😊

Wow! Just wow! I’ve woken up today in agony…due to spinal issues there’s lots I struggle to use my hands for and the cause of todays pain? Ink blending with distressoxides!! I was just thinking I should give up when I saw this….(& part 1)……..soon as I’m able I’m going to get back in the craft room and dig out my unused mica powders and paint with them…pain free! & try them with versa mark too. Thank you so much for making me see I can carry on crafting (that sounds like a film….for anyone old enough!)

I was so impressed with the techniques in part one. You out did yourself with part two. Hooray, more ways to use my micas that were growing cobwebs in the drawer. And the cherry on top, a two-for, you added a way to use the micas with Gelatos (also gathering cobwebs). You are amazing!

@@GerrysCraftRoom ha! I saw the other video. I made a mess of my laminator. Heavy hand on the gelatos. Got it cleaned up though. But the gelato with micas really caught my eye to use on cards, my primary paper craft projects.

Thanks for all of these great techniques & ideas. Part 1 was awesome but part 2 takes it over the top. Thanks for letting us know whether we need to fix the colors or not. I was wondering if they would come off on your hands or not & you answered that question. Thanks Gerry

Wow, so many cool techniques and such pretty cards as well. Another fixative you could have used was your micro glaze, that would have sealed your cards as well...though a bit more laborious to get it done. Thanks for sharing all of your great ideas!

Thanks and you're welcome💕 Yes for the glaze, though depending on the surface you work on, going over it with a glaze (and a blending tool) can get some of the powders off, so it's not completely "fool proof" so to speak😉

Lovely effects with the mica powders, microglaze, and stencils! Could you mention the types of papers you used? Also the black paper, so much fun!

thanks💖 I used Creative Expression foundation card: shrsl.com/3nbcc [Scrapbook.com] I saw the coconut white is clearance and they don't have the black😱 This is another one I like Craft Perfect Smooth Card: shrsl.com/3nbcm [Tonic Studios] both can take quite a bit of water and I love them for mixed media projects as well as stamping, hope this helps.
