Oh my goodness! I always tell my friends about Michelle Mouton whenever they talk about rally racing/pikes peak or female drivers. One of my favorite videos of her is when she has driven a rally car for so long then they interviewed her while she’s driving an old rear wheel rally Porsche like she’s never missed a beat. Amazing driver!

Hmm I guess I'm part of the 3% female audience lol. Ty for this episode, I didn't know much about her before. Hearing about how her dad supported her made me kinda tear up tho bc my dad recently passed. He was into F1 and vintage cars, and he would take me with him to shows and races. If you are a guy and have a daughter don't just assume she wouldn't be into cars, I treasure those moments with my dad...

Comon dudes... S1 was the last evolution of quattro in group B. Michelle started racing in regular long base coupé quattro and later in short base sport quattro. She never drove S1 in competition, only for development

I figured these fools would fully mess this up. I mean they did a video on Colin McRae and stated - repeatedly - that his quote was "If in doubt, go flat out" not what it actually is "If in doubt, flat out". Another video explaining the wings/down force on F1 they said that they created a vacuum under the car sucking it to the track. These videos are designed to educate but stating that vacuums suck is laughably idiotic, I wouldn't be surprised if they also think that household vacuum cleaners suck. WOW, they just said the S1 was the first AWD rally car. The amount of düm spewed by these muppets is incredible.

All good Nolan, I'm from Canada and I speak french and is a hard language to learn and easy to lose if not practiced enough. Also there are a bunch of different dialects of french throughout the world.

Thanks for making this episode guys. Mouton and Pons were absolute badasses who deserve more attention. Would love to hear more rally episodes, maybe an episode with a series of short bios of the major Group B drivers since you guys seem to be pretty interested in Group B? (Toivonen, Vatanen, Rohrl, Blomqvist, etc.) Small correction: the Renault R5 Turbo slightly predates the Quattro as the first turbocharged rally car.

@50:40 in, I love how Nolan and Joe are so focused at the screen while Skinny is reading. It's also cool to know that you guys skate (sk8) me n my boys got pretty good in the mid 90's on street and ramp (Blind. Acme. and Mad. where our brands lol) but of course I messed up my knee cap falling down a 12 foot half pipe, at the top rail my bearings popped in my wheel n I went down. Anyway friggin love you guys, I hope you continue to do what you been doing with video's and podcasts. Skate r die on pink grip tape... I loved Fun Size BTW.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm an afrolatina and I watch every single donut show I can in an effort to understand cars and their history better! I've been getting into the podcast more, recently, and Up to Speed is my absolute fave. I was a kid when she came to the Isle of Man. Her Audi was parked up near my grandma's hotel where I used to stay every summer. I remember stealing the headlight bulbs out of her car after her crash, I still have them somewhere

matthew natividad the fingers and stuff were from the engineers working on dangerous parts of the cars at very fast rates to meet time crunches. Many of them would lose a finger working in the engine bay, and mostly they would get hurt when changing spark plugs.

What's fun and difficult at the same time about driving the larger class cars in Rallying is the more power but you're more likely to hit something, so it often feels like trying to shove a brick down a stocking, I respect Mouton a lot for being able to shove that Quattro down gravel so utterly competently without pranging the car or wrapping it around a tree. The same with a Porsche, which swings out at the wrong time with the rear engine or the Alpine, which is nicely balanced but really fragile, you again cannot prang it.
