Michael Bisping interview: The best British fighter in history

Bisping beat Anderson Silva, a serious contender for the greatest mixed martial artist of all time. Saved by the bell after a brutal flying knee, he rallied to a decision win. His next victory brought him the belt. On two weeks notice he fought Luke Rockhold, an old rival. Rockhold has not been the same fighter since.
After that, Bisping avenged a humiliating knockout loss to Dan Henderson that is still played in highlight reels to this day. In front of his home Manchester crowd, at 5.30am so that pay-per-view buyers in Vegas could watch the broadcast at their usual time, he defended the belt.

Met him last week at his book signing in Manchester. Although we were near the front of the queue, we waited 3 and a half hours.. Word was spreading that he was taking his time every single person. Having a crack and taking photos. Unfortunately for me the time was getting on and it was 9pm. He was under pressure from waterstones and he had to get up and go round the rest of the queue quickly. I didn't get to have a few words with him but I got a photo, he signed my book and my boxing glove. Top top bloke! 🏴

When your job requires you speaking for American listeners, yes you should adjust the accent... Let's be real here. The British accent is fake and stupid. When British ppl sing, they sing in a regular "american accent" because they have a bullshit accent to try and sound royal. its a shame bisping realised so late in his career that 'd been over-training, i believed him absolutely that he beat rockhold because he was strong and well-rested. his natural resting heart rate was the lowest in the UFC at the time, he shoulda turned that knowlege into a super-power way before then.

Robert L I thought I had a relatively neutral accent too, until I went to Atlanta and nobody understood a word I said. I was trying to ask a shop assistant where the batteries were, but no matter how often I repeated the word batteries she did not understand me. In the end I just said batteries in an American accent and that worked perfectly.
