As a New Orleans native Sean is doing the good work in setting the record straight on the accent. There’s multiple in the city but the bayou thing everyone does is rare to actually hear in New Orleans cause like he said, that’s more Lafayette and other parts of southern Louisiana, think Cajun. There are ways we actually tend to talk but it is not that. Finally, the truth! 😂

That's what I tell people. I try to tell them that a New Orleans accent is like a New York accent but relaxed. No one believes me.

yeah people thinking nola is cajun when it’s literally not even in Acadiana is annoying… but also i’m from lafayette and some of the like old old people in lafayette have that cajun accent but it’s more people in more rural areas like grand coteau, earth, thibodeaux, etc. lafayette isn’t a big city but it’s also not the country town it once was

7:30 - He's not lying about the accrnts... what Jimmy was asking about is a Cajun accent, you get that around more South Central Louisiana, near where I live 😂😭🤣

I've been trying to explain our tru NOLA accent & the way we talk( fa real) to ppl I meet from outta town all da way back ta my college years, only to be met with confusion, argument or ridicule, til FINALLY I see you explain it with absolute success, in my book, and make me feel not so crazy anymore. GREAT STUFF!!

New Orleans accent sounds like NYC with a bit of a southern drawl to it. We don't sound like we're from down the bayou, and most people have a more subtle accent anyways

Finally someone comes across to the rest of the country about how different southern Louisiana accents are from the rest of the deep south.... and does a great job at it. Lol so frustrating to listen to Hollywood try to portray us people down here most of the time.
