Its the defendant who creates witnesses, not the prosecution. Good, upstanding people don't tend to mingle with alleged criminals and every prosecutor in America is going to remind the jury that they didn't choose for this witness to get involved, the defendant did when they chose to commit crimes together.

If he wants to take the stand and testify that they were business expenses than he can swear in and testify to that. I'll be very interested to hear what these legal expenses were for. His legal team has claimed that none of this exists which completely opens the door for cross examination on all of this.

Trump: I've always said it. I've never liked Cohen. When he worked for me, I didn't like him. You wouldn't believe it. He'd come up with these plans and schemes, and they sounded good, they really did, but I couldn't trust Cohen. But I said yes to the schemes, but they weren't technically schemes. Scheme is such a bad word, it sounds bad. I don't like it. You know who likes to scheme? Sleepy Joe and his crooked office. They scheme let me tell you. Believe me. But anyway Cohen worked for me, so did a lot of people. A lot of people work for me. People come up to me all the time, they really do, and they say, do you want to know what they say? They say that Working for me is great. Can you believe that? You wouldn't believe it. They say I am the best to work for. They do, the say it.
