I don’t care what anyone says, Crawford is THE Phantom of the Opera.

His voice is so soft, Romantic, natural, no imposted, no forced, the phantom is he.

It doesn't matter how many times I hear Michael Crawford sing as the Phantom, I still get chills and I still hold my breath. The magnificent, majestic Michael Crawford, the first and best Phantom of the Opera.

Michael Crawford is a perfectionist. He always gives his BEST. He is also a showmanship of the best.

Michael didn't need a mask to become the Phantom. This performance give me chills every time I watch!

Am I the only one who forgot to breathe when Michael began singing ? And even without that mask, he was the Phantom- the way he stood in the shadows behind Dale, that intense look on his face and his hand gesture! After the song was over, he was Michael again

Wish I had been old enough to see this when Crawford & Brightman were in the leading roles. Sends shivers down my spine everytime I watch this. Complete joy to watch.

Michael Crawford embodies what it is to have Outstanding human talent. Like cream it will always rise to the top and he is the top. He has the indisputable ability to ignite our emotions and leave us feeling fully alive as a result of encountering him.

……the look of concentration on Mr Crawford’s face is totally mesmerising, whilst he sings! I was President of his Fan Club in my State, & had the privilege of meeting, & talking with him a few times’, in that capacity. Lovely, intelligent man. He will ALWAYS be the first, & BEST ‘Phantom, IMO…………

As a couple of people have already commented, Dale was sick and running a fever. Even Though she wasn't well, a lot was riding on this concert. It was his first real public appearance after months of being out of sight after serious injuries he suffered in the Vegas show, EFX. He's always very nervous before a performance and to have to perform this important show, which was obviously being recorded for showing on TV and for a DVD, with a last-minute substitute would have been nerve-racking !!

Dale was sick, and this has actually been pitch fixed from when it was done live. I saw Dale many times in LA and she was very good. I am sure this sounds so bad because Dale had not been feeling well.

Michael Crawford was so good

I can only assume this wasn't Dale's best night, however she hit all the notes. One can criticize but she worked on stage with Michael for two years so she was in a major production of POTO with Michael. So my hats off to her I thought she was good. Not the best but certainly a worthy Christine. I still loved hearing her it those notes and Michael was wonderful an excellent vocal musician.

I saw Phantom at least 6 times on Broadway, but sadly not with Michael Crawford. He has a fantastic voice. That being said the performers I did see and hear did a phenomenal job. Magical show.

I saw this musical about 5 times, I did not get to see Crawford any of them but Dale all of the them, her voice was beautiful not forced at all, so it must of been her not feeling well. As for Brightman I only heard her on the soundtrack.

I remember Michael Crawford as Conderman. I believe that was a Disney movie.

She is supposed to be under the Phantom's spell at this point, so that may be why she looks a bit distant and expressionless.
