@megavolt67

@@jamesbutke1438 That 3rd season is incredible. Peak Trek, peak sci-fi television. That said, I do think the 2nd season (and I know many really don't like Pulaski, but while not as likeable as Crusher, she was definitely a stronger personality for others on the show to react to) helped to lay the groundwork for it after a 1st season that had been a little too focused on trying to recreate TOS. The 2nd season focuses more on human drama and developing the characters than the 1st season did. Looking back on it, I actually do like the 2nd season and despite the infamous Shades of Gray clipshow episode and the fact that Pulaski made most people clamor for the return of Crusher, I think it was a better and more enjoyable season than the 1st.

They had the gift of being the show that came along at the right time. The was just enough nostalgia for TOS and the movies helped keep it in America's consciousness. Being a highly rated, well-received and financially stable show will always help the actors make the most of their tenure there, which includes being good coworkers. Most of the ones coming after were more forced on the public, too soon to be missed, and with uncertain futures. Eventually there ended up a glut of ST series on the air. 🤷 But I could be wrong.

Actors in stage plays pull tricks on each other; mainly trying to keep alert in the play, which may go on for months. I remember an actress talking about a fellow player who was always pranking her. He had arranged for a telephone to be rung during a scene so she would be interrupted in her lines. Without a beat, she picked up the phone, listened and then turning to him said, "It's for you".

The integrity, chemistry, wonderful friendship, and LOVE this cast has for one another and all of us fans is just a freaking BEAUTIFUL thing to behold. The actors fell in love with this show and for good reason. YEARS later, they're close friends -- close like family and they knew both on-set and off that there needs to be a balance between professionalism and laughter because science fiction is often just so absurd that you *have* to bring levity into the quantum equation. (see what I did there?) THIS is what life is about, folks - integrity, love, joy in one's work, laughter, memories, the joy we bring to others, and the bonds we make with people . Gene Roddenberry would be proud to see ALL of this. This is, to me, what Star Trek is all about.

Well, we're up to a Spiner, a Frakes, and a Sirtis. That ain't bad. I know they're deeply resisting the story becoming TNG 2.0, though, and that's a good thing. These characters were part of Picard's life but they didn't define him - except, perhaps, in that Data defined his perception of sentient artificial life (and so would end up getting a little more screen time).

It’s funny because they didn’t like Patrick at first becuase he was the stuffy English Shakespearean pro while the others were having fun while they worked. But then they got him to open up and he became the worst of the lot for the winding people up. 🤣 General consensus is that the TOS cast all hated Shatner, TNG are best friends for life, DS9 they were professional with each other with Odo/Quark becoming best friends in real life and O’Brien being good friends with Keiko and Bashir and Sisko and Jake being close, and then on Voyager they all got along with the Dr but with each other it was a bit frosty.
