The return of Michael Edwards to lead the restructure of Liverpool is anticipated to be confirmed next week, with Richard Hughes joining as sporting director.
Sky Sports News understands Edwards will be given a prominent position within Fenway Sports Group, which would see him lead football operations at the Premier League side among other external tasks.

@@tomjones9383 Klopp bought players from relegated teams and went to a CL final and got 97 points. Even if Salah hadn't been signed he would still have built one of the best teams in the world. Take a look at what he did after missing on caicedo and lavia. Salah hasn't played in the last 12 games or so and the team has lost one game, Klopp beat Barca 4-0 without him.

Edwards was in charge when Liverpool signed the best players of the Klopp era, moreover he absolutely skinned some other clubs by selling players over the odds continously. Then while gone he rejected ManU, Chelsea, PSG and other clubs. Dude returns to Liverpool as a legend in his own right, he's definitely the right man to take charge of business post-Klopp.

Yeah... rest assured that Klopp just loves LFC so much that he wouldn't have decided to leave the club in a state of disarray, he would've made sure that it's in safe hands before he decided to call it quits there. There's only a bright future ahead!

Richard Hughes appointed the current Bournemouth Manager Iraola in summer 23. Interestingly enough Iraola is managed by the same agents as Xabi Alonso. Now it is just coincidental but clear links are there. Hughes has already handed in his notice at Bournemouth. FSG, Edwards and Hughes will be fully aware of there top 2 or 3 managers they want.

was he not Sporting director when Brendan Rodgers was manager..... signings like Borini, Joe Allen, Assaidi, Sahin, Luis Alberto just off the top of my head ....the only man that kept Edwards head pointing in the right direction is Klopp out of the last 2 managers he's worked with. so this will be a real test for him..hope he's learnt from those Rodgers era signings...YNWA!

I really think he was due to return and his initial departure came out of the blue, closely followed by Ward. Now with the current squad and input from the academy, Liverpool will be in a great position to really achieve more success. As for who the manager will be. I find Pep's football less attractive and so I would prefer Amorin (simply going off his record and he's had more top flight experience and success with more than 1 club)

Why doesn't this ever happen in Football in such way: Klopp can go, that's fine, but why doesn't he accompany the new Manager for a few months whilst he's settling in? Even as a shadow. He doesn't have to influence any decision-making or intervene in any way, but just his presence and aura would be Perfect hospitality for any new guy filling in such big shoes.

He is there to challenge some of Klopp's decisions which is one of the reason why Fsg liked him. Klopp did not want Salah and Mane mind you, he wanted Brandt and Draxler. Those two are Edward's decisions and he managed to persuade the manager.

Michael Edwards was the one who got us mane, salah, van dijk, robertson, all of our players. He scouted them and got klopp to sign them, he tells klopp WHO to sign, klopp didn't even know about mane, van dijk or robertson or salah, it was edwards who signed them. The sporting director is the one who scouts and picks players for the manager to buy.@@markhand4530
