Here is my new interview with Michael Fassbender for his new movie ASSASSIN´S CREED. He was born in Heidelberg, Germany. His father is german, his mother is irish. But he is very often in Germany to visit the german parts of his family. And he also speaks a little german!!! Please note: this is just a rough cut of my complete Interview. In my TV Show you see just two statements. I know about my german accent and in german television you will never hear me talk english - it´s all dubbed here with german language. So please don´t freak out about my english ;-) just be happy for the opportunity to see all the statements of this stars in full length - without any dubbing or cuts inside the statements of the stars. I made it to share it with all the fans of this movie and this Hollywood-Star. Please subscribe my channel - it´s for free. Bitte abonniert meinen Kanal - es kostet nichts und so erfahrt ihr immer, wenn ich ein neues Interview hochgeladen habe :-)

His Irish accent is stronger in German. In English he sounds a bit American but that's not unique in Ireland (e.g. the curse of upspeak is now common among middle-class Irish kids).

I can not believe people are complaining about his German. You do not need to have the accent to speak fluently. That's a misconception. I speak fluent English and I wil NEVER lose my Spanish accent: 1. because it is very difficult to do so if you don't live in an English / German speaking country and 2. because I don't want to. People believe it is the "right" thing to do if you want to speak a language properly but I think it is that kind of diversity that makes any language beautiful.

Thanks for this interview! It was interesting to watch! OMG...People. Why does everyone care about his imperfect German? I think it's great that he speaks 2 languages. He said that his German was "rusty" but I don't think so. He can understand, he can answer. He mentioned he watched movies in German. What else is needed? I admire him. My great grandma was German. My parents are German and Russian. I was born in Kazakhstan. My first language is Russian. I speak English, German and a little bit of Kazakh. I understand how difficult it can be to maintain all the languages on one level and I respect Michael for speaking 2 languages. I think he does a good job and people who came here only to comment on his "unfluent german" are just jealous or angry or idk.

And this is why you never believe Wikipedia when it says someone speaks a certain language 'fluently'. I came here basically to check the hype. Apparently he was born in Germany but it's clear he's not grown up there and learnt the language as a tourist, it's certainly not awful German but there is no way he could pass as a native speaker. Words don't come naturally to him and his accent is super thick.

Truth be told, I came here because as a bilingual, I was also curious about his "Germanness" and to what extent German might still be a native language for him. I think he's doing well though, and you've got to give him credit. He left Germany when he was very young and he probably didn't speak it much growing up. For his acting roles, he's certainly working with a dialect coach, and that's where his acting training comes into play. Have to be honest: the interviewer could have asked him some slightly more interesting questions. "What do you miss about Germany?" - how are you supposed to know if you've never lived there properly...he's lived in so many places, surely this is something much more interesting to talk about. ;)

Straight forward does not mean, geradlinig. What Fassbinder said, „gerade raus“ wich means someone speaks what hes thinking, is pretty much the right meaning.

The way his accent changes here is insane. Especially since it kinda seems he doesn't speak either german with a german accent nor english with an irish one. You here the irish influence in german and the german influence in english.

He definitely has an Irish accent but it is very tempered - like an Irish person who has lived in the States for years - a transatlantic Irish accent.

He said die Familie..and it is German...All Slavic languages has familia too with letter J (familija) ..French is famille, most Nordic language has familie..so, don't think it is Spanish only..familia comes from Latin..you know (I hope so), that Latin and Greek is the root of Indo-European languages...

Thank you I am British and I speak ok German, I am still working on it. Although I am self-taught, the education system here is the main problem not the people. I don't think they stress enough how a second language can benefit you in so many ways.
