That Van Gelder story is tough to hear, cuz Michael is so right. That house was a part of US history, and should never have been demolished, but instead turned into a museum. Man, do I love those orange label 1st Impulse records too. I’ve unfortunately only got a handful of em, but they’re some of my prized possessions. That story about the Beatles mono “kangaroo jump” records was great, and I feel extremely fortunate to own a copy of that mono box set from 2014. What a beautiful sounding bunch of records. Love Michael’s DVD’s! I bought both of them. He forgot to mention his other one, “It’s a vinyl world after all”. Ken, thank you so much for doing these vids with Michael and Art. They are truly wonderful!

I like Rudy’s recordings the way they were originally pressed. It’s history! I just acquired a Steve Allen first pressing, Jazz for Tonight, on Coral 1955. Check it out. Fantastic!

I'm English I live in UK. Bought Thelonious Monk, Album: Thelonious Monk Orchestra at Town Hall, New York. Bought this Album in 1960 in Manchester. How about terrific Pepper Adams only solo on this album. .

Yeah -Well- I certainly noticed the bass increase by the Beatles...and..didn’t know what to attribute it to....but was glad to hear this interesting interpretation of the ‘cause’ of the ‘effect’.

The Riversides always had clicks and pops in the pressings. I replaced them all in the 80s with the Japanese pressings.

Michael, keep'um coming buddy. I'd SUBSCRIBE (pay!) to have 4 hrs a day accumulate of Vinyl classes #101/#201/#301/#401/ & Graduate classes. 1. Label Stories: BLUE NOTE, Pacific, Atlantic, Prestige, Emcy, Classic, AP, Pure Please & Sam, yada, yada. 2. Industry news + basics: pressing plants mastering houses, yada, yada. 3. Musicians & their stories (jazz for me) 4. Tech Talk about RVG, different studios of his along with others. Live venues vs studio sessions =1,000 of stories. 5. Basic Cartridges info / styles FIRST, then on TTs., phono preamps, etc. 6.Guests along side. Do it starting this weekend until COVID-19 goes away and we can leave our homes. You owe the public 4-5 books and some more dvd/blurays! Michael, your a GOAT buddy.

Turntable design fascinates me but I don't see all that much real engineering going on in turntables anymore. I'd like to build a real hard core turntable but I don't have the machining resources yet. Several commercial tables get one thing pretty good but no one gets it all right.

Couldn't watch this video and not be distracted constantly by the focus of the camera which obviously had a hard time while Michael was standing next to the cabinet full of records.
