Michael Jackson was a fan of The Simpsons as soon as they launched onto tv screens back in 1989. So much so he rang up the cartoon creators and straight off the bat offered to write Bart a number one single and guest star in the show.
The single was 'Do The Bartman', released in 1990, in which Jackson co-wrote and did back up vocals for, and The Simpsons episode he appeared in was Season Three's debut 'Stark Raving Dad'.
Michael Jackson would be referenced several times throughout the series longstanding run, before allegations made against the King Of Pop motivated The Simpsons creators to remove their episode with Jackson and cut all ties with the superstar.

Michael Jackson was never convicted of a single crime and was thoroughly investigated during his life. Disney pulling one of the best Simpsons episodes is a disgrace.

I hate that the Simpsons throw MJ under the bus just to virtue signal after that awful HBO hit piece, Leaving Neverland, came out. There was no reason for them to stop re-airing the episode and it was disrespectful to MJ, who lent his star power to that animated show.

When leaving neverland came out, here in the Netherlands they where also talking about canceling MJ (of course). They where talking about the alligations as if it was fact. Most people still do. But there is this one radio station dedicated to 70's / 80's / 90's music that didn't. I remember the radio hosts having a short discussion about it. They said "innocent until proven otherwise, right". Gave me a lot of respect for these down to earth guys.
