Follow everyone's foul-mouthed Nerd as he delves into a relic of the 80's, Michael Jackson's Moonwalker. Things only get more and more crazy as he has to deal with rescuing kids under fishy circumstances, unstoppable hordes of zombies, and M.J. grabbing his...err... naughty bits. And that's not even including the dancing dogs, Bubbles the Monkey, and bizarre music omissions!
But no one could have seen coming what happens when everyone's favorite Smooth Criminal takes a ride on a shooting star...

For those who might not know, moonwalking actually has a bit of a purpose in the game. In the final set of stages (Mr.Big's hideout) there are a lot of conveyor belts that slow you down when you walk on them, but if you moonwalk on them you can go trough them faster.

Michael Jackson transforming into a kickass robot if he gets hit by a meteor is one of the reasons why I love old video games. It's random, makes absolutely no sense, but is pure fun. You'd never see something like that in a AAA title now.

My guess is that they never got the license from Rod Pemberton to use "Thriller," not realizing that Jackson didn't write it, and thought it was a better use of their money to program in a different Jackson song than to pay the license when Pemberton sent them a cease and desist.

You either had Revision 1 or 2 of the Moonwalker game for the Genesis; the initial release has the “Thriller” dance, the prototype has “Thriller” as its stage music. You should check Revision 0 and prototype versions out in a future episode of Angry Video Game Nerd.

This was made before Michael Jackson died, this was originally released on Gametrailers in January 2009, MJ died in June. The KZfaq version came out after he died but this wasn't on KZfaq at the time when it was released.

The version that had "Thriller" in the game wasn't actually made available to the public until 7 years after this video was produced. Otherwise the only time you could even hear it in the game was in early copies when Micheal does his dance special (so just a snippet) before later releases had to drop it entirely. The entire song never made it out of the prototype stage.

The arcade I worked at had the Moonwalker cabinet. I actually remember my hoodlum metalhead friends and I playing it, laughing and carrying on at the dance moves and crotch grab. Priceless. ✌️

08:46 apparently some copies of the game have Thriller and others don't. UPDATE: Thriller was only included on a prototype version of the game, who's ROM was recently dumped online by Landon White who owns the prototype.

+david the nerd that's crap to believe the dr killed him... he was an addict....he just kept wanting more...the dr has to share some of the guilt but its not him 100%..... when I saw him on the news he seemed like was a pushover....im sure whatever Micheal wanted he got..... if McMurray said no MJ would find someone else...and you know how that goes with superstars....there was probably a waiting list of doctors waiting to "treat" him..... it is sad what happened but MJ lived a rough life.... he got famous to young and his father was a bastard.... though that's not always the case.... some addicts live great lives..... addiction does not discriminate....anybody can be a victim of it..... but to blame Dr McMurray that is not fair....its what MJ wanted....
