In this clip, Michael Jai White talks about the passing of the legendary singer/actor/activist Harry Belafonte and the interactions that they had before sharing that the late Hollywood icon inspired the creation of his film, "The Outlaw Johnny Black." DJ Vlad's unfamiliarity with Belafonte's filmography prompts him to say "He was ahead of my time," which offends Michael because the two men around the same age. Elsewhere in the clip, DJ Vlad drops a tidbit on Michael by revealing that his famous song, "Banana Boat (Day-O)" was actually a cover originated by another recording artist. Later, he talks about a fundraiser that Jamie Foxx sanctioned at his house for the late great singer.
Michael Jai White also previews his upcoming movie "The Outlaw Johnny Black," by stating that people seem to like the follow-up to "Black Dynamite" is better, based on previous screenings. Between the scene where he drops the car in the helicopter and starts laughing…… then goes to the next scene and he walks in the door still laughing. Maaaaaaaan, that and the boomerang scene. Had me rollin!

Massive respect for actors that know their film history, it shows that they take the craft seriously. Extremely excited for Outlaw Johnny Black, most anticipated film of the year!

Black Dynamite was great but my favorite Michael Jai White film was Undisputed 2. Underrated film of his in my opinion.

Yeah! Ballafonte was international. Him and Bra Hugh Masekela were tight like that. Hence his projects and frequent trips to South Africa
